In my #twenties

... Read moreNavigating your twenties can indeed feel isolating, but what I’ve personally learned is that loneliness often stems not from being physically alone but from lacking meaningful connections. For me, recognizing that "lonely and alone are not the same" was a game changer — it shifted my focus to quality over quantity in friendships. One practice I found genuinely helpful was not waiting around for others to reach out. As the saying goes, "you have to go first." Sending a simple "I miss you" text or suggesting a meet-up might feel risky, but it opens doors to deeper connections that wouldn’t happen otherwise. I also realized the importance of surrounding myself with the right people — those who don’t require convincing to stick around. Trying to please everyone only drains your energy and feeds loneliness. Instead, focusing on two or three truly supportive friends who answer your calls and understand you is far more valuable than many surface-level acquaintances. Lastly, I learned to accept the ebb and flow of loneliness. At those tough hours, especially at 2 a.m., the ache of loneliness feels endless. But acknowledging that feeling and allowing it to settle, rather than fighting it, helped me regain balance. Using tools like journaling or apps designed to ground your emotions offered an outlet before reaching out for real human connection. Overall, my twenties taught me that building authentic relationships takes courage, but it’s the key to transforming loneliness into fulfillment. These lessons aren’t just theoretical—they’ve shaped how I relate to others and maintain my well-being during challenging times.
