✨🤦 More ADHD/BPD Peeves …

1. Do NOT text back with “ok” or “ok.” … text back ok :) or something similar. I know everyone is going to say “I shouldn’t have to text you how you want me to text you blah blah blah” ; but the key here is that I have BPD - and when someone sends a text, just saying OK, especially after I sent a whole thought - it triggers my anxiety. Whether I know that the OK just means OK or not, YOU can’t change my brain. IM WORKING ON IT BUT DONT CRITICIZE ME WHILE IM HEALING ❤️‍🩹

2. DO NOT LEAVE NEAR EMPTY DRINK/FOOD IN THE FRIDGE. it’s literally that simple.

3. DO NOT OVER FREEZE YOUR SODA IN MY FREEZER SO THAT IT LEAKS EVERYWHERE. Pretty self explanatory.

4. Do not drink the last of my sodas and not tell me. This causes me to flip out bc I think I have 3 Starry’s left to last me 1x per day for the next 3 days; but no, some ash!le drank all 3 within 2 hours 🥴 (gtf out my house, son 😒)

... Read moreReading through these BPD and ADHD peeves really hit home! It’s incredible how seemingly minor things can become massive triggers when your brain is wired a little differently. You’re definitely not alone in feeling that intense frustration or anxiety when someone replies with just an 'ok' after you’ve poured your heart out, or when your carefully planned soda stash vanishes. These aren't just 'pet peeves' for us; they often tap into deeper challenges associated with neurodivergence. For instance, that 'ok' text. For someone with BPD, it can instantly trigger fears of abandonment, rejection, or misinterpretation due to emotional dysregulation. Our brains can jump to worst-case scenarios, turning a neutral response into a catastrophic sign. It's not about being 'needy' but about needing clear, affirming communication to feel secure. Similarly, for ADHD, the lack of clarity or brevity can feel dismissive, creating mental loops trying to decipher intent, which is exhausting. Then there’s the fridge drama! Leaving near-empty containers or over-freezing drinks might seem trivial, but it speaks to executive dysfunction. For those of us with ADHD, planning and memory can be real struggles. We might rely on visual cues (like a full soda pack) or routine. When these are disrupted, it throws off our entire system, leading to unexpected stress and frustration. It's not just about the soda; it's about the unexpected mental load and the breakdown of a perceived order. The same goes for someone drinking the last of something without a heads-up – it disrupts our planning and can feel like a violation of personal space or routine, triggering intense emotional reactions. So, what can we do when these 'BPD Life peeves that trigger' inevitably pop up? For communication, I’ve found it helpful to gently, and sometimes repeatedly, explain to close friends and family why certain responses impact me so much. It's a marathon, not a sprint, but over time, they start to understand. Suggesting specific phrasing, like "Could you add a smiley face if you're just saying 'ok'?" or "If you read my long text, could you tell me one thing you picked up?" can really help bridge the gap. When it comes to those household irritations, establishing clear boundaries and expectations can make a huge difference. A shared whiteboard for 'last item alerts' or a designated shelf can prevent a lot of meltdown moments. And honestly, sometimes it’s about self-compassion. Acknowledging that these feelings are valid, even if they seem 'small' to others, is crucial. Our neurodivergent brains process things differently, and that’s okay. We’re working on it, and understanding our triggers is the first step toward managing them. It's about creating a more understanding environment, both for ourselves and with those we share our lives with. Sharing these kinds of peeves isn't complaining; it's a way to foster empathy and find common ground. Knowing others experience similar triggers can be incredibly validating and a powerful reminder that we're not alone in this journey. We're all just trying to navigate a world that isn't always set up for our unique needs.

How To Be Less Dramatic and More in Control
1. When something doesn’t go as planned and you want to start spiraling, splash your face with some water and ask yourself - what is the worst case scenario in this? And in the worst case scenario, can you handle it? And I do not mean do you WANT to do it. I mean is it possible to fix this issue ev
