Eliminating the toxicity once again. It comes through this app in waves but when it does it is a bummer. I don’t use other social media much anymore, so when I allow myself to scroll I come to lemon8.

Nonetheless I will continue to purge, and be extremely selective with my interactions.

I can’t sit here and say I have never argued with people online; but I’m vowing to no longer let that energy be present on my social media. I was bent out of shape over the weird influx of minors on this app but I’m continuing to block those I feel/notice are not of my age/maturity level.

On the note of TikTok doctorates… I can’t stand misinformation and fear mongering. I don’t want to watch videos of women yelling at me to stop using a brand of this, or a brand of that and use some expensive alternative instead. To those creators I say:

Please, please let us, as women, be us on here!! Stop with the heavy influence energy! Be yourself and stop marketing to me.

The rise of influencers claiming expertise, such as so-called 'TikTok doctorates', presents challenges, especially when mixed with misinformation and fearmongering. These influencers often promote products or lifestyles without adequate basis, leading to confusion and sometimes harmful decisions among viewers. This is particularly relevant in health and wellness spaces, where misinformation can have serious repercussions. Users are urged to be vigilant and critically evaluate the information they receive. Authenticity on platforms like Lemon8 is crucial. Building a community based on shared experiences rather than curated perfect lives helps foster genuine connections, combating the toxic nature prevalent on many social media sites. By embracing vulnerability and encouraging individual expressions without undue influence, users can create a healthier, more supportive online environment. As users continue to select their online interactions carefully, it’s imperative to promote a culture that values real experiences over marketing tactics. The journey to a healthier social media experience starts with each user choosing to engage authentically, questioning the validity of the information, and prioritizing mental well-being above all.
