ある夜中、走行中に聞こえた大きな『ボン！！』という衝撃音。 思わず停車して確認すると、なんとコウモリが車の隙間にジャストフィットして挟まっていました。最初はもう助からないと思いましたが、段ボールにそっと回収すると元気を取り戻し、まだ生きていることがわかりました。 しかしよく観察すると、片方の羽根は切れており、もう片方は骨折している状態で、これでは飛べるはずがありません 。自宅には猫が複数いるため、ここでの保護は困難と判断し、翌朝すぐに県の鳥獣保護センターに連絡して引き取ってもらうことにしました。 この体験を通して、野生動物の保護は思った以上に難しく、特にペットを飼っている環境では細心の注意が求められます。猫は遊び感覚で狩りをするので、野生の動物にとっては命の危険でもあります。寄生虫の問題もあり、安易に自宅で保護を続けることは推奨されません。 また、鳥獣保護のための行政機関への連絡と引き渡しの流れを体験できたことは、大変勉強になりました。地域によって対応はさまざまですが、負傷した野生動物を見つけたら、なるべく速やかに専門機関へ相談するのが一番の助けになります。 私が感じたのは、野生動物と人間、ペットが共存する難しさです。痛々しい姿のコウモリを見て心が痛みましたが、適切なケアを受けて回復してほしいと願うばかりです。野生動物保護に興味のある方や、ペットとともに野生動物への影響を考えている方にとっても参考になる体験談だと思います。
