It's all about Trust

John 1:3-5 NIV - Through him, all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel.

A big part of spiritual warfare is getting you to rely only on yourself and not on God, who has the greater power. Satan will tempt you to rely on your own resources—the tangible, measurable assets you can count. While it is wise to understand your resources, it is unwise to think that your ultimate security is in them. David’s census was an egotistical inventory of his military might that was in direct contradiction to David’s experience of God’s provision and protection throughout his lifetime.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." PROVERBS 3:5-6

... Read moreI remember staring at those words, 'John 1:3-5 NIV,' like the ones on the open book in that image, illuminated by a warm light. 'Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.' It hit me differently one day. We often hear this, but do we truly grasp its weight? If everything was made through Him, then what does that say about His power, His wisdom, and His intricate design for our lives? It means He's not just some distant figure; He's the architect of the universe, the source of 'life and light shining in darkness, which the darkness has not overcome.' This truth, for me, became the bedrock of real trust. The original article touched on how easy it is to fall into the trap of self-reliance, counting our own resources, much like David did with his census. It’s a human instinct, right? To control what we can see and measure. But when you truly internalize that 'through Him all things are made,' it shifts your perspective dramatically. I've learned that trusting God isn't about ignoring practical steps, but about recognizing that our ultimate security isn't in those steps, but in the One who orchestrates them. For instance, when I face a huge decision or a seemingly insurmountable problem, my first instinct used to be to frantically list all my options, all my 'resources.' Now, I pause. I remind myself: 'He made all things.' This Creator God knows the end from the beginning. So, what does this look like day-to-day? For me, it starts with acknowledging His sovereignty. Instead of saying, 'I've got to fix this myself,' I try to pray, 'God, You created all things, You know this situation intimately. Guide me, give me wisdom, and open doors I can't even see.' It's about surrendering the outcome while still diligently doing my part. The original article rightly points out that spiritual warfare often aims to get us to rely only on ourselves. Satan wants us to feel isolated, burdened by our own limited strength. But remembering that 'through Him all things were made' is like shining a powerful light on that darkness. It reminds me that I'm never truly alone, and my resources are never truly finite when connected to the infinite Creator. Proverbs 3:5-6, 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,' becomes so much more profound when you overlay it with the understanding of John 1:3. How can I not trust the One who literally brought everything into existence? His understanding is beyond ours, His plans are perfect. It’s not about being passive, but being actively reliant on His guidance. It's a journey, not a destination. There are days I still slip, trying to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. But then I remember the profound truth: 'Through Him all things were made.' And that simple, powerful statement brings me back to peace, reminding me that my ultimate security rests in His capable, loving hands. It's truly a game-changer for walking through life with genuine peace and confidence.
