... Read moreOkay, fellow volleyball superstars! 🏐 We all know the struggle: you're diving for a ball, and suddenly your hair is everywhere, blinding you. It's not just about looking cute; it's about keeping your focus on the game! I've experimented with so many styles, and I'm here to share what actually works to keep your hair out of your face and looking great from warm-up to match point. First off, a few general tips I've learned: Good Hair Ties are Key: Invest in strong, snag-free elastic bands. I swear by the ones that don't pull my hair. Hairspray is Your Best Friend: A light mist of flexible hold hairspray can tame flyaways without making your hair feel stiff. Prep Your Hair: Sometimes, a little dry shampoo can give fine hair more grip, making braids easier to hold. Now, let's talk about some of my go-to, game-ready hairstyles, many of which I've seen on my teammates and loved! 1. The Secure Bubble Braid: This one is a total lifesaver for long hair! It's super stylish but also incredibly practical. Instead of one long braid that might loosen, the bubble braid creates sections that are individually secured. I love doing a slicked-back bubble braid ponytail – it keeps every strand perfectly in place. To do it, start with a high ponytail, then add elastic bands every few inches down the ponytail, gently pulling each section to create a "bubble." It's surprisingly easy and looks fantastic! 2. The Classic Fishtail Braid: Oh, how I love fishtail braids! They look intricate but are totally doable once you get the hang of it. What I appreciate most is how tightly they hold my hair, preventing any wisps from escaping. A long fishtail braid is perfect for those intense matches. You can even tie it off with a cute black and white bow or team colors, like I often do, for an extra touch. It stays secure and looks chic! 3. Double French or Dutch Braids to Ponytails: This is probably my most frequent game-day choice. Starting with two French braids (or Dutch braids, if you prefer them to pop more) from the top of your head, and then merging them into low ponytails (or even a single low ponytail at the nape of your neck) is genius. It keeps the hair at your scalp super tight and stops all those annoying little hairs around your face from falling out. Plus, it's comfortable under a visor if you wear one for outdoor training! 4. Playful Braided Pigtails: For a fun and secure look, braided pigtails are awesome! My teammates and I sometimes add pink and white ribbons woven into the braids or tied at the ends to match our team colors. It's a great way to show team spirit while keeping your hair totally out of the way. They're also surprisingly comfortable for those long practice sessions. 5. High Ponytail with a Twist: Sometimes, I'll go for a high ponytail, but to make it really volleyball-proof, I'll do a small braid just at the front hairline to pull back all the baby hairs, then gather everything into a super high, tight ponytail. You can even wrap a small section of hair around the elastic and secure it with a bobby pin for a polished finish. Don't forget to pack extra hair ties in your bag – you never know when you or a teammate might need one! Experiment with these styles and find what makes you feel confident and ready to dominate the court. Hope these tips help you serve up some serious style and skill! 💖
