柚子の収穫は、実が手の届く位置にあると盗難の心配が増えます。私の場合も昨年は多くが盗られてしまい、その対策として『トルナ』の看板を立てて所有権を主張しました。これだけで今年はたくさんの柚子を無事に収穫できました。 収穫には高枝切りバサミが欠かせません。柚子の木は背が高く、枝が道路側に伸びているため、自身の安全を守りつつしっかり実を取るには適切な道具選びが重要だと実感しています。 また、収穫後は絞って鍋料理に活用したり、香り豊かな柚子ジャムや柚子蜜を作ったりと、家庭菜園ならではの楽しみも広がります。収穫しないままにすると実が硬くなったり、木の負担になる場合もあるので、タイミングも大切です。 最後に、もし柚子の収穫方法や後処理に不安がある方は、地域の家庭菜園コミュニティや農家の方々からのアドバイスを参考にすることをおすすめします。私も情報交換を通じて柚子栽培の幅が広がりました。
