Originally, Tokoname City, where this museum is located, was famous for making clay pipes 😊

INAXライブミュージアムは、ただの美術館ではなく、常滑市の伝統ある陶器文化を深く学べる場所です。特に印象的だったのは、「装飾の宇宙」と題されたイスラームのタイル張りドーム天井の展示で、朝から夜へと移り変わる光の演出がタイルの表情を豊かに変化させていました。この光の変化を体験するたびに、壁に施されたタイルの美しさと技術の高さに驚かされます。 また「世界のタイル博物館」では、オランダのデルフトタイルや地中海マヨルカ島を経由して広まった錫釉陶器など、各国の歴史や文化背景とともにタイルの発展を辿ることができます。特に大航海時代における技術や文化の交流がタイルデザインに反映されており、これらの繊細なモザイクに見入ってしまいました。 インスタ映えも狙えるこの博物館では、単に見るだけでなく、壁面装飾の歴史や現代日本の試みも知れて勉強にもなりました。企画展「土間」では、昔地中に埋設されていた電線用の土管や地元で使われ続けた土間道具の展示があり、生活文化の一端を感じられます。ユニークな展示として「トイレの文化館」もあり、昔から現代までのトイレ文化の変遷や世界各国のトイレ事情を知ることができました。 美術館巡りから少し離れていた私にとって、この訪問は貴重な学びと発見の機会となりました。美術品としてのタイルだけではなく、人々の暮らしや文化との関係性を感じることができるので、歴史好きや文化に興味がある方には特におすすめです。近隣には名古屋市科学館など他の観光スポットもあるので、旅行のプランに合わせて訪れるのも良いでしょう。次回はまた違った企画展や季節のイベントにも足を運んで、新たな発見を楽しみたいと思います。
