Watering with rainwater, distilled, or reverse osmosis water is crucial, as tap water often contains minerals that can damage sundews. Maintaining high humidity levels around 50% to 80% and temperatures ranging between 60°F to 85°F (15°C to 29°C) supports healthy growth. Sundews appreciate bright, indirect light for 4 to 6+ hours daily; some species tolerate limited direct sunlight, but avoid prolonged exposure to harsh rays. It's important never to feed sundews manually or touch their sticky tentacles, as this can stress the plant and reduce its effectiveness in capturing prey. Instead, let them catch insects naturally, which provides vital nutrients they cannot absorb from the soil. Additionally, good air circulation helps prevent mold growth and diseases. During winter, many sundews enter a period of dormancy or rest, requiring lower temperatures and less water. Proper care during this phase is necessary for survival and regrowth in spring.
