Challenge a new qualification at the age of 60.
When you hear that, many people may think like this.
"Now?"
But for me, the challenge meant a lot.
I have worked in the world of architecture for a long time.
Design, site and management.
He continued his design work as a first-class architect and started a company at the age of 33.
The company lasted about 20 years.
However, management was not always smooth.
At some point, the company faces the reality of bankruptcy.
At the end of the day, I thought.
I don t want to make anyone cry.
Architecture is a job that affects the lives of many people.
Designers, on-site craftsmen, cooperative companies, and owners.
There are countless human efforts to complete the building.
I still can't forget the regret of not being able to protect the scene.
Still, I continued to work in architecture.
Architecture is not an easy job to quit.
Draw a drawing, look at the site, the building is completed.
Once you know the joy of that moment, you can never leave this job.
In the meantime, I decided to learn again.
Let's review the work of architecture from the origin again.
When I thought about it, I met the qualification of "Facility Design First Class Architect."
Buildings are not completed by form alone.
・ Air-conditioning ventilation equipment
・ Water supply and drainage sanitation facilities
・ Electrical equipment
・ Fire fighting equipment
・ Transportation equipment
For the first time, these facilities will become buildings where people can spend time comfortably.
Although I had been working in design for a long time, I felt that there was still a deep area in the world of equipment design.
That's why I thought.
"Let's challenge"
At the age of 60, it was never easy to challenge a new qualification.
Studying while working.
Learning new knowledge.
There were many things that were not as good as when I was young.
Still, it makes sense to keep learning.
Architecture is a job that you learn for the rest of your life.
While gaining experience, I gradually grow as an engineer.
Equipment Design Through studying as a First-Class Architect, I came to know the depth of architectural equipment again.
And I thought.
There is still much to be said in the world of architecture.
About technology.
About the scene.
The organization.
And to live as a technician.
I started writing from that thought

It depicts the challenges, conflicts, and growth of engineers working in the world of architecture as a story.

建築業界で長年活動してきた私が、60歳で設備設計一級建築士の資格に挑戦した背景には、技術者としての成長と現場を守りたいという強い思いがありました。建築は形あるものを作るだけでなく、空調や給排水、電気・消防設備など多くの設備が絡み合い、初めて快適で安全な空間が実現します。設備設計の専門知識は、設計から施工管理、そして維持管理まで建築の質を左右する重要な要素です。 正直に言うと、60歳で新たな資格に挑戦するのは簡単ではありません。若い頃に比べて記憶力や体力の低下を感じることもあり、勉強時間の確保にも工夫が必要です。しかし、継続的な学びこそが技術者としての成長を促し、現場での問題解決力やチームへの信頼にも繋がります。私の場合、仕事と勉強の両立を図るために、日々のスケジュール管理を徹底し、効率的な学習方法を模索しました。 また、資格試験準備においては実務経験の重要性を再認識しました。単にテキストを読むだけでなく、過去の現場事例を振り返り、設備設計の理論と実践を結びつけることが合格への近道です。具体的な計画を立てて段階的に学ぶことが効果的で、試験対策として専門書や問題集、模擬試験を活用しながら知識の定着を図りました。 『建築士のバトン』シリーズは、私のこうした経験や建築業界で働く技術者たちの葛藤、挑戦、成長を物語として描いています。建築設備の役割から資格取得まで幅広くカバーし、同じ志を持つ方々にとって心強いガイドとなるでしょう。建築の奥深さや技術者としての誇りを次世代に繋ぐため、このシリーズを通して多くの人に建築設備の世界を知ってほしいと願っています。
