Enayama Tunnel, the 6th longest tunnel in Japan✨
My husband told me that the Enayama Tunnel that I am going through now is a tunnel that goes under the Japanese Alps and enters Nagano Prefecture. It is one of the longest tunnels in Japan, so I took a picture!!

Enayama Tunnel (Enasan Tunnel) is a long tunnel through the Kiso Mountains (Central Alps) located between the Sonohara IC (Nagano Prefecture) and the Nakatsugawa IC (Gifu Prefecture) of the Chuo Expressway.
Opened in 1975, it was the second longest in the world at that time. Currently, four lanes are used with two lines of about 8.6 km up and about 8.5 km down.
It is currently the sixth longest road tunnel in Japan.
As an important trunk road that crosses the difficult points of the Central Alps, it is the key to logistics and tourism connecting Nagano and Gifu prefectures.
私も恵那山トンネルを通るたびに、その長さと歴史に驚かされます。1975年の開通当時は世界で2番目に長いトンネルだったと聞き、その規模の大きさに感動しました。実際、上り線が約8.6km、下り線が約8.5kmと、長距離ドライブの際にトンネル内での景色の変化はほとんどありませんが、長い間安全に通行できているのは高度な建設技術と維持管理のおかげだと実感しています。 また、恵那山トンネルは単なる通路ではなく、物流や観光を支える重要なインフラです。特に中央アルプスの難所を越えるこのトンネルがなければ、長野県と岐阜県を結ぶ道路のアクセスは格段に悪くなるでしょう。私の経験では、冬季でも比較的安定して通行できるため、スキー場などの観光地へ行く際に欠かせないルートです。 近隣には『恵那山トンネル二期線開通記念碑』もあり、歴史を感じられるスポ ットとしておすすめです。トンネルを抜けた先の景色も素晴らしく、自然の中を走っている実感を味わえます。地元の人だけでなく、ドライブ好きの方にとっても一度は通ってみる価値のあるトンネルです。これからも安全で快適な通行が続くことを願っています。
