Beloved Colombian Singer Yeison Jiménez Dies in Plane Crash at 34
Yeison Jiménez, a beloved Colombian singer celebrated for blending traditional ranchera with música popular, has died at the age of 34 following a plane crash that killed six people, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. local time, shortly after takeoff in the area between the cities of Paipa and Duitama, Colombia. According to Colombia’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics, the aircraft—registered as N325FA—was en route to Medellín when it went down. All six people on board were killed.
Jiménez was traveling to perform at a scheduled concert later that evening. The plane was reportedly owned by his company, YJ Company SAS. Colombia’s Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
In an emotional statement shared on Instagram, Jiménez’s team wrote:
“With heavy hearts and indescribable grief, Yeison Jiménez’s organization and team deeply regret to announce his passing. Today, we not only say goodbye to an artist, but to a son, a brother, a friend, and a human being full of dreams and courage.”
The other victims were identified as Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel, Oscar Marín, Weisman Mora, and Captain Fernando Torres. Mora, who worked as Jiménez’s photographer, had posted a video from inside the aircraft to Instagram Stories shortly before the crash.
Yeison Jiménez rose from humble beginnings to become one of Colombia’s most successful modern artists. According to industry reports, he sold out Bogotá’s Movistar Arena three times in 2024 and made history in 2025 as the first Colombian artist to sell out El Campín Stadium.
