Persuasion —Jane Austen

As we grow up, we gradually understand that sometimes love doesn't end because we stopped loving, but it ends because at that time it didn't allow us to love each other, and never saw a book that said this hurt as much. 🥲

Compared to Jane Austen's other novels, it feels that this story is very different because it does not tell the story of falling in love directly, but starts with two people who have previously loved each other, and the heroine chooses to let him go, he does not lose love, but is only convinced by those around him that this man is not suitable, there is no position, the future is unstable, she should choose something that looks safer.

So sometimes what makes us lose love is not infidelity, not change our mind, but fear, which we think is true in real life, no matter what, not just love.

A lot to like in the protagonist is that he is not a rebellious heroine, not against everything like modern romance characters used to read. He just lives with regrets carrying on for years, which is perhaps more sad than crying out. The feeling is in the heart.

I feel like this is quite mature because it shows that some people don't move on, but they just live on, even if they keep something in mind all the time, more like learning to live with what they lose.

There's a sentence we crossed out.

"I can listen no longer in silence. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope."

We're actually not very much in love confession, but this sentence is like the feeling of someone loving someone for too long to really keep.

What we feel most hurt about this is that two people still love each other, but have wasted many years from one decision in the past, and it makes us think that there are many people who have experienced this experience in real life who have not broken up because of love, but because it is not the time or the right person wrong time that is often seen.
