Lower Your Cortisol Levels Wellness

Your body knows before your mind knows. Your environment has an affect on your whether you know it or not.

Your ability to manage your emotions can be hindered by being provoked by what you allow access to you.

Here are some things you can do that will help.

1) Journaling and reflecting on what triggers you. You must be in tune with how your body reacts to certain thoughts, situations, and encounters with others. This helps you be mindful of how interactions in your daily life affect your mood, giving you the opportunity to make necessary adjustments.

2) Many health insurance programs have employee assistance programs that can provide counseling services for free.

3) If you haven’t been to your primary care physician, it may be time to have a discussion or get lab work to determine how your body is doing.

4) You have needed to make a decision for a long time that you know would be best for you, but haven’t made the step. Prayer and being in tune with how you want your future to look is important. If something is holding you back, maybe it is time to shed the weight. A good devotion could redirect your mind and focus. I have some 3-day devotionals you can download now.

5) Remove yourself from the environment with a travel adventure. As a Fora Travel Advisor, glamping in Texas is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Travel solo, with a partner or friend, or as a group.

In my personal experience, one of the most effective ways to keep cortisol in check is to develop a daily mindfulness routine. This could involve simple practices like deep breathing exercises, meditation, or even brief moments of gratitude journaling. I've found that reflecting on stressful events shortly after they happen helps me recognize patterns in my reactions, allowing me to gradually reduce my overall stress responses. Engaging with counseling services can also provide immense benefits. Even when free counseling isn't an option, finding a trusted support system—whether friends, family, or support groups—can help process stressors before they elevate cortisol levels. Additionally, regular health check-ups that include hormone panels have given me valuable insights into how lifestyle changes impact my cortisol levels over time. Spiritual engagement has been another powerful tool. Using devotionals or prayer as a way to focus and center my thoughts helped shift my mindset during challenging decisions. This practice reduced the mental load I carried, which seemed to translate into less physical stress. Finally, changing environments by traveling, particularly through immersive and restful experiences like glamping, has dramatically lowered my stress. Disconnecting from daily triggers and connecting with nature recharged my mental and emotional state. Whether traveling solo or with loved ones, these moments helped me collect positive experiences, not just high cortisol levels, reinforcing the importance of self-care and environment on well-being.
