Living intentionally is about work-life harmony. If you think about how you spent your time throughout the week, were you happy about it? #emergingcreator
Some people work hard without an outlet. Believe it or not, extracurricular activities apply to adults, too!
If you don’t have a hobby, I encourage you to find one. Here are mine!
1. Photography allows me to be creative. I love taking photos of sunrises, sunsets, the moon, nature, and my dogs. Photography challenges me to keep my mind fresh in a fun way.
2. Leisure reading is something that keeps my eyes off of screens because nothing can replace a hard copy book. I do have a Kindle as well though.
3. Journaling is one of my favorite hobbies. Self-reflection, planning, and organizing my thoughts helps me be consistent with behaviors that achieve my goals.
Notice these hobbies are just for me. However, my daughter shares a love of reading with me, so library trips are something we enjoy together. She also love drawing and journaling herself. Therefore, it is fun to share a hobby with a loved one as well. ❤️

Taking intentional breaks throughout the day can significantly improve mental clarity, reduce stress, and boost creativity. From my own experience, incorporating small pauses, such as stepping away from work to enjoy a sunrise or jot down thoughts in a journal, helps me stay grounded and focused.
Photography, as mentioned, is a fantastic hobby for creatively pausing and appreciating the present moment. Capturing scenes like sunsets or nature not only calms the mind but also encourages mindfulness—paying close attention to details often overlooked in daily life. This practice connects us to the world beyond screens and deadlines.
Leisure reading offers another meaningful way to pause intentionally. Holding a physical book provides a tactile experience that digital screens can’t replicate. This detachment from electronic devices reduces eyestrain and enhances comprehension and memory.
Journaling stands out as a powerful tool for self-reflection and goal setting. When you write, you create space to process emotions, organize your thoughts, and chart progress toward personal objectives. Consistency in journaling can reinforce positive habits and encourage a balanced lifestyle.
Sharing hobbies with family, like library visits or drawing, strengthens relationships and creates joyful pauses in hectic schedules. These shared moments foster connection and instill valuable habits in loved ones.
Overall, mastering the art of the pause involves recognizing the value of stepping back amid the hustle, focusing on moments that truly matter. By embracing hobbies and intentional breaks, you can enhance your well-being and achieve a more harmonious work-life balance—a practice well worth cultivating in our constantly busy lives.
