Obedience with Small Things Matter, Too
Listen. Let’s commit to follow God on the smallest level. Forget the more obvious wrongdoings that land you in jail or prison. What are you doing and thinking at home. Are you being obedient on the smallest level?
What about the things no one sees? Yet, we convince ourselves that we are covered by grace, while we purposely choose sin. We know this is not what God intended, and yet flesh and worldly goals rule us still.
Be concerned when you grow numb to doing wrong without conviction. The world, somehow, told us to keep making the same mistakes willingly and ask for forgiveness without a contrite heart. Let’s not abuse grace. We know better, so let’s behave in a manner worthy of our calling.
We sin less when we really know and love God. We made him our choice for real this time and surrender daily. Think about what you do that no one sees and that no one corrects in love. It’s up to you to read your word and draw nearer. Otherwise, let the world and fleshy desires rule you.

As the saying goes, ‘Control your inputs, or the world will control your outputs.’ This means that without intentionality, worldly distractions and fleshly desires easily take over. From personal experience, committing to obedience even in seemingly insignificant matters builds spiritual momentum. It fosters a sincere heart and a closer relationship with God. When I began to pay attention to my internal conversations and private actions, it became clear where I needed to invite God’s guidance. It’s not about perfection but about honest surrender and a willingness to grow. Moreover, being alert to moments where I might be numb to sin ensures I don’t unintentionally abuse grace. True contrition changes how we live and prompts lasting transformation. Grace isn’t a license to repeat mistakes carelessly but a call to live worthy of our calling. This perspective helps maintain a lifestyle of integrity, where love for God drives obedience—not guilt or obligation. Daily reading of Scripture and prayer have grounded me in this journey. They provide strength to resist worldly temptations and fleshly impulses. These practices draw me nearer to God and deepen my love for Him, reducing the inclination to sin. Joining a community of like-minded believers also encourages accountability and shared growth. Ultimately, obedience in small things is about honoring God in every thought and action. It’s a commitment to live intentionally, reflecting our faith authentically. By embracing this mindset, we experience richer spiritual growth and a more fulfilling walk with God.
