Hey everyone! I'm so thrilled to dive deeper into my recent Emre Overwatch cosplay test. Getting a character's look just right, especially someone as distinctive as Emre, is always a fun challenge. Today, I really want to break down the process behind her signature elements: that striking eyeliner and her unique hairstyle. First, let's talk about the wig – truly the foundation of Emre's look! Her hair isn't just a simple bob; it has a very specific cut and volume that makes it instantly recognizable. I spent a fair bit of time researching different wig types before settling on a base that I felt could be styled accurately. My main goal was to replicate Emre's precise, slightly asymmetrical cut and that gorgeous side-swept fringe. I opted for a high-quality synthetic wig with good heat resistance, which is crucial for styling. When it arrived, it was a bit longer than needed, so I carefully trimmed it, using reference images from the game and popular Emre fanart to guide my cuts. Styling the bangs to get that perfect swoop without looking stiff was probably the trickiest part, requiring a bit of hairspray and a flat iron on a low setting. For anyone trying this, layering your cuts and using a strong-hold hairspray specifically for wigs can make a huge difference in achieving that gravity-defying yet natural look. Next up, the eyeliner! Emre's eye makeup is incredibly sharp and angular, giving her a fierce and determined expression. For this, I swear by a good liquid eyeliner with a fine brush tip. I started with a very thin line along the upper lash line, extending it outwards towards the temple, following the natural angle of my lower lash line. The key is to make it sharp and precise, so taking your time is essential. I usually draw a small dot where I want the wing to end, then connect it back to the lash line. For extra drama and to match her in-game model, I also added a very subtle, thin line to the inner corner, creating a slight cat-eye effect that really opens up the eye. Don't be afraid to use a small, angled brush with some black eyeshadow to clean up any wobbly lines or intensify the wing. Practice makes perfect with eyeliner, and I definitely went through a few cotton swabs during my test! Beyond the wig and eyeliner, the rest of Emre's makeup is fairly understated but contributes to her overall serious and focused demeanor. I used a matte foundation to create a smooth base, and a subtle contouring technique to define the cheekbones, especially prominent in her character design. A neutral lip color helps keep the focus on her eyes. It's amazing how much a character’s design can inspire your own creative journey. Seeing incredible Emre fanart constantly pushes me to refine my own interpretation. I hope sharing my process helps anyone else out there looking to bring Emre to life! What other Overwatch characters are you hoping to cosplay? Let me know in the comments!
