when i was pregnant with my second born 🥰

2025/8/3 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I was pregnant with my second child, I braced myself for the big bump and all the comments that come with it. But to my surprise, even at 9 months along, many people would look at me and ask, “Are you really pregnant?” It was a strange mix of feeling a bit self-conscious and also, honestly, a little relieved that I could still move around with relative ease! This experience made me realize how many women might be going through the same thing, wondering if it's normal not to 'show' much, especially in the final stretch of pregnancy. So, why do some women not show a prominent baby bump even at 9 months pregnant? There are several reasons, and it’s usually nothing to worry about. For me, I learned that the position of the baby and my uterus played a big part. With my first, the baby was positioned more forward, creating a very visible bump. But with my second, my little one settled deeper into my pelvis, and my uterus tilted slightly differently. Another common factor is the strength of your abdominal muscles. If you have strong core muscles from pre-pregnancy workouts or previous pregnancies, they can sometimes hold the bump in more tightly, making it less outwardly noticeable. Your body type and height can also influence how much you show. Taller women or those with longer torsos might have more space for the baby to grow upwards rather than outwards. Even if my bump wasn't stealing the show, there were moments, like when I'd relax in the *green grass*, feeling my baby move, where the magic of being a pregnant woman was undeniable. Sometimes, I'd even dress up, perhaps in a beautiful *red dress with lace sleeves*, feeling every bit a glowing mom-to-be, regardless of bump size. The external appearance never truly reflected the deep, internal joy and anticipation I felt, especially during those precious last weeks. It was a time of quiet connection, even if the world around me didn't always see the physical manifestation of my pregnancy. While it’s often normal not to show much, it’s always a good idea to keep up with your prenatal appointments. Your doctor or midwife will measure your fundal height (the distance from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus) and monitor the baby's growth via ultrasound. These measurements are more reliable indicators of your baby's development than how big your bump looks from the outside. If these measurements are consistently on track, and you're feeling regular baby movements, you can rest assured that your baby is growing well. I remember my doctor always reassuring me that every woman carries differently, and as long as the baby was healthy, that’s all that mattered. Dealing with comments from well-meaning (or sometimes not-so-well-meaning) strangers can be frustrating. I found it helpful to have a few stock phrases ready, like “Baby is doing great, just tucked in deep!” or simply smiling and changing the subject. The most important thing is to focus on your health and the incredible journey you're on. Enjoy those last few weeks of pregnancy, whether you're rocking a small bump or a big one. Every pregnancy is unique, and yours is beautiful just the way it is.
