Low Stim Shows 📺
These are the only shows so far that are low stimulation that my almost 3yr old watches.
We started with Duggee which is adorable with the colors, badge goals, education etc. Then the classic Little Bear! Which was so great, it expanded her imagination, words, etc. The other shows have slowly come to the rotation.
I take my time with the shows, she rewatches a lot before trying a new series. This is all in a span of a head I believe.

Finding the right TV shows for toddlers can be challenging, especially when aiming for low stimulation content that nurtures learning and imagination without overwhelming young viewers. I've found that shows like Hey Duggee and Little Bear strike the perfect balance for my almost 3-year-old. Hey Duggee is delightful with its bright colors and motivating badge system, which subtly encourages goal-setting and recognition skills. Meanwhile, Little Bear offers more gentle storytelling, expanding vocabulary and nurturing creativity through its charming characters and simple plots. When introducing a new show, I make sure my toddler has ample time to rewatch episodes before moving on to something new. This repetition helps her grasp new words, concepts, and emotional cues. Not every show made the cut; I look for those that maintain calm pacing, avoid rapid scene changes, and feature soothing voices and music, which are key for low stim content. Other shows that have become part of our rotation include classics and newer educational series like 'Mouse A Cookie' and 'Maurice Sendak'-inspired stories, which scored 4.0 to 5.0 in our personal rating scale. Timothy Goes to School is also a favorite for its relatable school experiences and gentle narrative style. It's also important to balance screen time with active play and reading to support overall development. Low stim shows can be wonderful tools when used in moderation and with mindful attention to your child's responses. I look forward to updating this list as we discover more gems that fit this niche.
