The Good Part

There’s a song by AJR & one of the lyrics is “can we skip to the good part?” And I use to think the same thing - like when am I going to get to that good part of life… problem is what I didn’t realize is I don’t have to wait, because I’m already there. Too often I think I was looking for the future to get to that good part.

When I’m debt free…

When I get the good job…

When I finish ::whatever::…

When we can do ::such and such::…

Problem that I am finding though? When you wait and live for future things or things you are working on and towards - then what happens to right now? What happens to all the laughs and adventures?

I’m still working on this. It’s not an easy task for me to master but I think I’ll try! Because it is worth it! Sure we have to work and bills will always be… but live in the now moments, enjoy your life - since we are not promised tomorrow, why wait?

Are you often caught in the cycle of waiting for life’s better moments? Many people look forward to future milestones, such as getting out of debt or achieving career goals, believing these will bring happiness. However, the truth is that life is not solely about reaching these goals, but also about savoring the present moments we often overlook. In a fast-paced world filled with distractions, it's essential to practice mindfulness and recognize that happiness can exist now, not just in the future. Mindfulness practices, such as meditative journaling, can help in appreciating the small things daily. Activities like going for a walk, enjoying nature, or spending time with loved ones can strengthen your connection to the present. Building gratitude habits, where you acknowledge at least a few things you appreciate each day, can shift your focus from what is lacking to what is abundant. Social media can also influence our perceptions of happiness. While it can inspire, it often shows curated snippets of people’s lives, making them seem perfect. Remember, everyone has struggles and moments of doubt. By sharing authentic experiences, we can foster a community that encourages enjoying our journeys and celebrating our realities, regardless of where we are in life. Ultimately, it’s about making the choice to find joy in the here and now.
