私も「レモンバームってミントと何が違うの？」から始まって、鉢植えで両方育ててみたら、香りも使いどころも結構違いました。梅雨〜夏に向けてお手入れしつつ、摘みたてでお茶にする流れがいちばん続けやすかったです。 ■レモンバームとミントの違い（ざっくり） ・香り：ミント＝スーッと清涼感（メントール系）。レモンバーム＝レモンみたいにやさしい柑橘香で、ミントほど刺激は強くない印象。 ・飲んだ後の体感：ミントは「暑い日に口の中が涼しい！」が早い。レモンバームは「ふー…」と気持ちがゆるむ感じで、冷房疲れの時に手が伸びました。 ・葉の使い方：ミントは少量でも香りが立つので、入れすぎ注意。レモンバームは多めに入れても丸い香りで飲みやすいです。 ■フレッシュミントティーの作り方（家でやってる簡単版） 1) 葉をさっと洗う（虫や土を落とす） 2) グラス/ポットにミントを軽くちぎって入れる（香りが出やすい） 3) 熱湯を注いで3〜5分蒸らす 4) 甘みが欲しい日ははちみつを少し。暑い日は氷を入れて急冷してもおいしいです。 ※ポイント：えぐみが出やすいので、強く揉みすぎないのがコツでした。 ■レモンバームティーの作り方（寝る前寄り） ミントと同じ手順でOK。私はレモンバーム多め＋蒸らしは短め（3分くらい）にすると、青っぽさが出にくく感じました。気分でレモン薄切りを足すと香りがまとまります。 ■梅雨前のお手入れ（鉢植えでやってよかったこと） ・下葉かき＆軽い剪定：風通しが良くなって蒸れにくい。切った葉をそのままお茶にできて一石二鳥。 ・朝の涼しい時間に収穫：香りがしっかりして、葉もしゃきっとしていました。 ・土の表面に小石（マルチング）：泥はねが減って、葉が汚れにくくなりました。 ■「ハミングミント 消えた なぜ？」の私のメモ（よくある原因） 品種名の“ハミングミント”は流通状況で店頭から消えることがあり、単純に「生産終了/入荷停止」「季節で出回らない」パターンが多いみたいです。栽培面だと、ミントは蒸れ・根詰まり・水切れのどれかで急に弱ることがありました。 ・鉢が小さい→根詰まりで元気が落ちる ・梅雨の長雨→蒸れて黒っぽくなる ・真夏の西日→一気にしおれる 私は「半日陰＋風通し＋水は朝にたっぷり」で安定しました。 摘みたての香りって、市販のティーバッグとは別物でびっくりします。暑い日にはミント、疲れた日にはレモンバーム…みたいに気分で使い分けると続けやすいですよ。
