Staying Humble during answered prayers 🙏
I have always had a strong desire for success because I thought becoming a successful person would somehow "empower" me and help me to reach a level of superiority to the people who intentionally tried to put me down or ruin my reputation.
before I knew God, I was doing it out of my own "strength" which was really just feelings of vengeance, anger and trying to "earn" something. I produced no fruit - just more problems, more struggle, more strife and a lack of fulfillment.
Since giving my life to Jesus, I find that a new kind of spirit fuels my work ethic. I have different motives now that align with his will.
🩷 Wanting to help people, and lead lost souls back to his kingdom through my countenance
🩷 Wanting to tithe my profits back into his kingdom
🩷 wanting to reach financial stability so that I can give my son a safe and easy upbringing
🩷 Connecting with my coworkers, being there for them and help THEM out of their own disparities.
Ever since my motives changed (thanks to the power of the holy spirit🕊️) I find that I'm actually gaining the success I desire now - I'm actually producing fruit from the work that I do!
But the other day, I had a "haha look at you now" moment when I was browsing through social media and seeing that someone who tried to hurt me was doing really bad now. I know I'm supposed to console them and show them the power of God and what he can do for us, but my flesh wants to remind them that they're reaping everything that they have sown onto me now. In our quest for success, it’s common to feel the need to prove ourselves, especially to those who have doubted us. This often stems from a place of anger and desire for revenge. However, when we commit our lives to a higher purpose, we find ourselves aligning with a transformative spirit. This change can shift our focus from personal gain to genuinely helping others. Many people, especially in the Christian faith, experience a pivotal change in their motivations after embracing their beliefs. They recognize that true success isn't merely about achieving personal goals but about uplifting those around them. The act of tithing, for instance, represents a commitment to give back and support the community that helped shape one's journey. Moreover, it's essential to acknowledge the emotive struggles we face. Witnessing those who have wronged us endure hardship can evoke feelings of satisfaction; however, we are called to rise above these impulses. Sharing compassion and empathy during difficult times not only reflects our character but also the strength of our faith. Ultimately, while encountering such feelings is human, the journey of faith encourages us to focus on kindness over vindication. Many believers find that channeling their energy towards constructive actions fosters a sense of peace and fulfillment far beyond mere success.
