Balancing study time with personal interests has been a rewarding experience throughout my associate's program. As I near completion, I find myself eager to dive deeper into topics that truly fascinate me, particularly the rich and complex history of the Celtic peoples. Exploring Celtic history offers a unique window into ancient societies, systems of kinship, and cultural development. From the early origins of the Celtic tribes, their social structures, to their medieval evolution, there is so much to uncover and study. One interesting aspect that ties into my recent studies is the 'patterns of descent'—or the ways in which kinship and lineage were traced—which played a vital role in Celtic communities and can be seen reflected in various historical documents and oral traditions. Moving forward, I plan to spend more weekends reading for pleasure and conducting research that aligns with these interests, allowing a more relaxed yet enriching study pace. This transition not only marks a shift in academic focus but an opportunity to connect with history on a personal level, enhancing both knowledge and enjoyment. For anyone nearing the end of their formal education, I recommend taking time to reflect on your passions and consider how to weave them into ongoing learning experiences.
