Townhome Container Garden

Pot gardening is my newest venture since I currently don’t have a backyard to work with! Here are the beginnings of some herbs and greens that I am VERY hopeful for💚🌱

I researched what does best in containers and then narrowed it down to these decisions:

>Top Row: Banana Peppers

••• I grew banana peppers in ground last year along with lots of tomatoes, squash, zucchini and okra; but the banana peppers far outperformed the others! They were so tolerant of different soil moisture levels, heat, and didn’t draw as many pests.. so I figured they’d be my best bet in a container!

>Second Row: Rosemary & Oregano

••• I’ve never worked much with fresh herbs. I think rosemary smells ✨incredible✨ and knew from visiting others homes that herbs can thrive in containers! SO while I’m trying new things like container gardening, I figured I’d try out cooking with fresh herbs and grab a few of these too! (And a special shoutout to the basil in the pot behind my planters😉)

••• We eat down on some salad at LEAST once a week. I wasn’t sure how hopeful I could be for these when planting them, they were a little limp and sad. But thankfully since this photo, they’ve really began to fill out and look extra happy and have probably made the most progress out of my whole garden, surprisingly!!

My neighbor just gifted us a tomato plant AND I finally committed to utilizing that bottom, empty row of the planter for some of my sprouting garlic cloves to see how it reproduces! Fingers crossed, and updates to come!!

I live in an apt and grow everything in containers on my patio. We have herbs and peppers. Last year we grew tomatoes. I would never grow them again bc they attract tomato horn caterpillars. They are scary and disgusting looking. They ate up all of our different pepper plants and were hard to get rid of.
