Which should we plant??

Loving these. Not sure which I should put in my flower box of my sheshed!

6/15 Edited to

... Read moreWhen deciding what to plant in your flower box, especially if it's attached to a shed (or 'sheshed'), there are several factors to consider to ensure your choice thrives and enhances your space. From my experience, it's important to think about sunlight exposure, watering needs, and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. For example, Black Mamba petunias are a popular choice for their striking dark purple color and resilience in sunny spots. If your flower box gets a lot of direct sunlight, these petunias can brighten the area with bold, rich hues. They tend to bloom continuously and are fairly low maintenance. Colocasia, often known as elephant ears, offer large, tropical-looking foliage that can bring a unique texture contrast to your flower box. However, they prefer shaded positions with moist soil, so placing them on the shadier side of your shed can make them thrive. These are perfect if you want lush greenery alongside flowering plants. Atlas Black pansies are another great option that can tolerate cooler temperatures and partial sunlight. Their deep, almost black petals stand out beautifully and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, contributing to a lively garden ecosystem. When choosing flowers, mixing different textures and colors—like black petunias with leafy colocasia and vibrant pansies—can create an eye-catching and dynamic flower box. Don't forget to consider the bloom periods to keep your flower box colorful throughout the growing season. Based on my gardening journey, experimenting with these varieties can be fun. You might want to start with a few plants to see how they adapt to your specific conditions before filling the entire box. Also, ensure good quality soil and regular feeding to maximize their growth and blooming potential. Overall, choosing flowers for your flower box is a personal journey that balances beauty and practicality. With some trial, attention to your local climate, and a little care, you can create a stunning display that complements your shed and provides year-round joy.
