When it comes to sharing personal hygiene items, floss is definitely one of those things I wouldn’t recommend swapping with anyone—even your significant other. From my experience, using someone else's floss just doesn't sit right, and honestly, it's a bit gross. Aside from the obvious hygiene risks, floss tends to carry bacteria from the last person's mouth, so reusing it can lead to infections or gum irritation. I remember when I first realized this, I was casually borrowing my girlfriend’s dental floss once, thinking it wouldn’t hurt. But the moment I picked it up, I felt a wave of eww and quickly stopped. It made me think about how intimate yet personal oral care really is. Floss isn't just a cleaning tool; it's a barrier that protects us from harmful bacteria. Healthy dental habits are crucial, and that includes having your own floss. It's relatively inexpensive and widely available, so there’s really no good excuse not to maintain your own set. Plus, it adds an element of respect for yourself and others, keeping the relationship’s boundaries clear and hygienic. From a broader perspective, this tiny act opened my eyes to thinking more carefully about personal hygiene in relationships. Whether it’s sharing towels, razors, or even lipstick, some things are better kept personal to avoid unnecessary health risks. So, take it from me—invest in your own floss, keep your smile bright, and spare yourself the discomfort and the weird feelings. Your gums (and your girlfriend!) will thank you!
