something people didnt tell me about before getting my super ultrawide was that the range of games that are comfortable to still play on such a large screen JURASTICALLY falls. alot of games have huge black bars or just wont even support the size of my screen, but not these games!! my three favorite at the moment because i can immerse myself in the game with no problem.
if you were thinking of getting a super uw like mine, be wary of the games it can support! let me know if you guys would like another list!!!
... Read moreOkay, so like, when I first got my super ultrawide monitor, I was SO excited! I pictured myself diving into incredibly immersive worlds, but then reality hit. So many games just didn't support the 21:9 aspect ratio properly, leaving me with frustrating black bars or stretched visuals. It was such a bummer! But after some serious testing and tweaking, I've discovered some absolute gems that truly shine on a super ultrawide setup. Let me share my expanded thoughts and even more recommendations for compatible games on an super ultrawide!
First up, *Roblox*! You might think of it as a kids' game, but honestly, the sheer variety of community-made experiences means there's something for everyone. What makes it fantastic for ultrawide is how well it scales. Many popular experiences are designed with flexible UI elements, and the expansive field of view you get on an ultrawide really makes those huge worlds feel even bigger. It's surprisingly immersive for a platform game, and I've spent hours just exploring without any visual issues.
Then there's *Fortnite*. This battle royale giant is famous for its bright, cartoony graphics, but on a super ultrawide, it takes on a whole new dimension. The increased peripheral vision is a genuine advantage in a competitive game like this, letting you spot opponents creeping up on your flanks much easier. Plus, Epic Games has done a fantastic job ensuring it supports a wide range of resolutions, so you get full screen coverage with no black bars. The chaotic action just feels more epic when it fills your entire view!
And of course, *Red Dead Redemption II*. Oh. My. Goodness. If you want to talk immersion, this is it. The world of RDR2 is already breathtaking, but seeing those vast landscapes, detailed towns, and incredible weather effects stretch across an ultrawide monitor is an experience everyone should have. It genuinely feels like you're stepping into the Wild West. The cinematic scope is unparalleled, and the game's stunning visuals are simply amplified by the extra screen real estate. It's a game that truly benefits from every pixel of your ultrawide.
Beyond these top three, I've found that certain genres consistently hit it out of the park on ultrawide monitors. Racing games, for example, are a no-brainer. Titles like Forza Horizon 5 or F1 23 instantly put you in the driver's seat with an amazing sense of speed and a much wider view of the track and your opponents. It makes cornering so much more intuitive! Simulation games, such as Cities: Skylines or grand strategy games like *Civilization VI*, are also fantastic because you can see so much of your empire or city at once. Less scrolling, more planning! It really helps with managing complex systems. And for exploration and adventure, especially open-world titles with beautiful vistas like Cyberpunk 2077 (once it was fixed, haha!) or *Assassin's Creed Valhalla*, the sprawling environments just look incredible and draw you in completely.
Getting a super ultrawide has been an amazing upgrade for my setup, even with the initial hiccups. Finding these truly compatible games has made all the difference, turning those potential frustrations into pure gaming bliss. What are your go-to ultrawide games? I'd love to add more to my list!
