I’m all for slang, just not in serious posts.
I get so irked when I’m scrolling Reels, TikTok, or even watching a TV show and hear people mess up basic words. Like, I hate to say it, but if you drop one of those wrong terms, I immediately check out. Even if you’ve got a good point, my brain can’t get past the bad wording.
It’s not slang I mind, colloquial stuff like “unalived” or “chopped” is fine. The problem’s when people try to sound serious talking like they know their stuff and either ignore or don’t have that little voice going, “Wait, this sounds off.” Education or where you’re from might play a role, but if you’re posting videos breaking down cognitive dissonance psychology for thousands of viewers, you can figure out it’s “discomfort,” not “uncomfortability.”
More people are saying these wrong words, so they’ll eventually become normal. It feels like proper English, the way we used to know it, has a slow death sentence, and I’m just watching it fade. Am I being too fussy for caring about this?
i don't use proper grammar when im typing on socials ,, but i use it whenevr im doing homework or writing 4 school and whatnot
