✨Healing means sometimes outgrowing people✨
Something I didn’t expect about healing—something no one really prepares you for—is how much you have to let go of while you’re learning how to hold yourself.
In the process of growing and choosing a version of me that feels safe, honest, and real… I lost all of my high school friends. People I once thought would be around forever just slowly stopped fitting. I also had to make the incredibly hard decision to cut off most of my family—because peace started to matter more than keeping the connection out of guilt or habit.
As I began setting boundaries, choosing rest over survival mode, and finally listening to what I actually need… everything started shifting. Conversations got harder. Some people couldn’t (or wouldn’t) see who I was becoming. They only saw the version of me that stayed small to keep others comfortable.
And yeah—it’s been painful. Grieving people who are still alive always is. But it’s also been necessary.
Healing isn’t just about feeling better. It’s about becoming. Expanding. Learning to protect your space and your energy. And that kind of growth means some people won’t come with you.
If you’re in this place too—losing relationships you thought were forever—you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just becoming more you. And the people aligned with this version of you… they’ll find you. You won’t have to shrink to keep them.
