I recently had the most amazing time visiting Dujiangyan Yangtianwo Square during my trip to China, and I just have to share my experience with all of you! This place truly captured my heart and is an absolute must-see if you're exploring Dujiangyan. Upon arriving at the square, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the incredible array of giant panda sculptures. They are everywhere, in all sorts of poses, and frankly, they are adorable! It's like a panda paradise, making it a fantastic spot for photos and just soaking in some pure joy. You'll see families, couples, and solo travelers like me, all captivated by these charming creatures. It really adds a unique, playful vibe to the historical city of Dujiangyan. I spent ages just wandering around, taking pictures with my favorite pandas and watching others do the same. It's such a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere. If you're planning your own adventure to Dujiangyan and want to experience the magic of Yangtianwo Square, here are a few tips I picked up. The square is quite centrally located, making it accessible. I found that using local transportation or a ride-sharing app was very convenient. Wear comfortable shoes because you’ll want to walk around and explore every corner – there’s so much to see! Also, while the square itself is free to enter, be prepared for some charming street vendors selling snacks and souvenirs. I highly recommend trying some local treats; they really enhance the overall cultural experience when you travel in Dujiangyan, China. But Yangtianwo Square isn't the only gem in Dujiangyan. Directly adjacent, or just a short walk away, you'll find the awe-inspiring Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ancient engineering marvel is still in use today and is a testament to human ingenuity. Combining a visit to the historical irrigation system with the modern, playful Yangtianwo Square offers a wonderful contrast and a comprehensive look at Dujiangyan's charm. I opted to visit the irrigation system first, immersing myself in the history, and then relaxed and enjoyed the whimsical pandas, which felt like a perfect balance. For foodies, Dujiangyan also has a lot to offer. Don't leave without trying some local Sichuan dishes. The flavors are incredible, and it's a perfect way to refuel after all that exploring. From spicy hotpots to delicious street food, your taste buds are in for a treat. Overall, my visit to Yangtianwo Square and the surrounding area was a highlight of my travel in Dujiangyan. It’s more than just a square; it’s a place where history meets modern charm, all adorned with the universally loved panda. So, if you're looking for a delightful and memorable stop on your China itinerary, definitely consider spending some time at Dujiangyan Yangtianwo Square. You won't regret it!
