Self Care Or Social Pressure? 😭🔥

I am tired of every beauty chore being renamed "self care" 😭🔥

Shaving is not always self care.

Fixing cracked heels is not always self care.

Buying another serum because your face is angry is not always self care.

Sometimes it is just pressure with better branding 🛒

That is why I like products that do not waste my time.

If I am already expected to maintain everything, at least let the product work harder than I do.

Vaseline is ugly-effective.

It is not giving spa day. It is giving "my hands are cracked and I need help before I start screaming" 🤧

URperf Hair Removal Cream is for the girls who want smooth-looking legs without making shaving their personality.

Because no, I do not want to schedule my week around body hair 🙃

SUMAX Relief Serum is for skin that gets dramatic after workouts or weather changes.

I need calm-looking skin, not another product that makes my face audition for a medical mystery show 💦

RUOALL Hair Shampoo feels like a better choice when your hair is giving weak, flat, stressed.

Not every hair problem needs a viral bottle with a fake luxury name ✨

Vermisse Essential Oil is the kind of oil I can respect.

Soft, nourished-looking skin without looking like I applied it during a kitchen accident 💕

AmLactin gets a red flag from me, not because it is useless for everyone,

but because the internet made it sound like it would rewrite my entire leg history 😬

The real issue:

women are sold "confidence" in tiny bottles, then blamed for being insecure.

Make that make sense.

If beauty is a choice, why does everyone suddenly have an opinion when women choose not to do it? 👀

So yes, I want useful products.

But I also want to stop pretending every exhausting routine is empowerment.

Which "self care" step secretly feels like unpaid labor to you?

Say it loudly. Someone needs to start the fight 👇

5/9 Edited to

... Read moreIn my experience, the line between genuine self care and societal pressure can get really blurry, especially when it comes to beauty routines. While brands market products as empowering, sometimes it feels like we're just doing unpaid labor to fit into unrealistic standards. For example, Vaseline has been my go-to for times when my skin is literally crying out for relief. It’s not fancy or glamorous, but it's incredibly effective for cracked hands or dry lips without wasting my time. For those of us who want smooth skin without the time-consuming hassle of traditional shaving or waxing, hair removal creams like URperf have been game changers. They save time and don’t turn hair removal into a personality-defining ritual, which can be a huge relief when you have other priorities. The SUMAX Relief Serum is something I always keep handy, especially after sweating or sudden weather changes that leave my skin red and irritated. Instead of piling on multiple serums or feeling like my face is under a microscope, SUMAX calms and repairs efficiently. It's all about products that recognize life happens and don’t demand perfection. Hair care often gets overlooked when discussing pressure, but RUOALL Hair Shampoo has been a refreshing change. Instead of chasing after viral luxury shampoos with questionable results, RUOALL’s formulation with Batana Oil and Caffeine feels intentional and genuinely improves the health and strength of my hair. On the fragrance and nourishing side, Vermisse Essential Oil offers soft, moisturized skin without that greasy, overdone look. It’s subtle and respects the practical side of beauty without sacrificing nourishment. Lastly, I’ve learned to be cautious with products like AmLactin that get hyped as miracle solutions online. While some people do benefit, the internet buzz made it seem like it would erase all my skin issues overnight, which wasn’t realistic for me. What I truly appreciate now is admitting that not every beauty ritual needs to be termed 'self care' or an act of empowerment. Sometimes, it’s just maintenance done for your comfort, and that’s okay. Calling out steps that feel like unpaid labor is the first step to reclaiming control over our routines and expectations. Have you ever felt exhausted by a 'self care' step that wasn’t really caring for you? Share your stories because real talk about beauty pressure can open space for more honest, manageable routines that respect our time and well-being.
