💜 What If The Behavior Is Communication?
For a long time, I thought every behavior needed to be corrected, redirected, or stopped.
Now I spend more time asking a different question:
What might she be trying to tell me?
As I’ve learned more about Bella’s world, I’ve realized that communication doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.
Sometimes it looks like seeking connection.
Sometimes it looks like checking for someone you trust.
Sometimes it looks like coming back over and over again just to make sure your person is still there.
The behavior isn’t always the whole story.
Sometimes it’s communication.
💜 Week 3: The Little Things Matter Too
Tomorrow we’re talking about something many people overlook:
💜 Small Routines Create Big Comfort
Because sometimes the things Bella does the same way every day aren’t habits at all.
Sometimes they’re what help her feel safe.

Learning Bella’s world one day at a time.
Reflecting on my own experiences, I've found that what initially appeared as challenging behavior was actually an attempt to communicate needs or emotions in a unique way. For example, repetitive actions or seeking constant presence may be misunderstood as mere habits or disruptions. However, these behaviors often serve as a way to build connection or seek reassurance from loved ones. In daily life, I noticed that paying attention to the 'why' behind behaviors allows deeper empathy and improves interactions. Small routines — often overlooked by others — are not just habits but can be crucial for creating a sense of safety and predictability, especially for those who may find verbal communication difficult. This perspective transforms the way we see actions: not just as behaviors to correct but as meaningful messages to understand. It reminds me to pause and ask, "What is this behavior trying to tell me?" rather than rushing to redirect it. Understanding behavior as communication invites patience and compassion. It helps create environments where individuals feel seen and supported, reinforcing trust and connection. Recognizing these subtle communications enriches relationships and fosters a more inclusive approach to interaction.
