piercing journey (pt. 2)

another year calls for more ear piercings!

Went to get my 2nd lobes and helix a year ago as you can see from this post and decided to go back to Bugis tattoo for more Cartilage piercings!

1st Helix from Feb 2024:

Got it done at /Bugis Tattoo and my helix healed super well!! easily the easiest piercing to heal with no hassle at all. No infections, no pain!! So decided to go back to Bugis Tattoo for my other cartilage piercings

2nd Helix + Rook

Pain Level:

» 2nd Helix: 4/10

» Rook: 6/10

It was more painful than i expected, bc the last time i got my helix done there i felt no pain at all but it was still tolerable!!! After the initial piercing, the rest of the day it was of a 1/10 pain level where it felt mostly numb but you can still feel a dull ache.

Got it done on 5Mar '25 and so far they've been healing well, felt no pain from 2nd day onwards! There's still a lil bit of dried blood around my rook piercing as there was blood when the piercer did my rook but I've left it there as I didn't want to aggravate it or cause it any trauma but it's being washed off bit by bit as I do cleanse it with a saline solution!

Overall super happy my new piercings and cant wait to get more already! Highly recommend /Bugis Tattoo as always, they're super sanitary and ensure all of their needles and studs, etc are properly cleaned/sanitised before the piercing is done! Also, they do use a longer stud for the piercings they do so as to allow room in case of swelling.

Y'all may refer to the price list in the 2nd photo for your reference on the various piercings Bugis Tattoo offers!

💰 Price:

Rook: $40

Helix: $30

total: $70!

... Read moreIf you’re considering getting multiple cartilage piercings like I did, it’s helpful to know the typical healing process and how to manage pain and swelling. Cartilage piercings usually take longer to heal than lobes, often several months, and you may notice different swelling stages—starting with initial tenderness, followed by gradual reduction if you care for them properly. One important tip is to follow aftercare instructions meticulously; I used a saline solution to cleanse my piercings twice daily, which helped prevent infection and gently broke down dried blood around the rook piercing. Avoid touching or twisting the jewelry to minimize irritation. Regarding pain, I found the 2nd helix piercing quite tolerable at a 4/10, but the rook was a bit more intense at 6/10 on the pain scale. Everyone’s pain threshold differs, but from my experience, the pain subsides significantly after the first day. Bugis Tattoo’s approach to using longer studs was a smart choice, allowing room for swelling without causing discomfort. Their commitment to hygiene, with sterilized needles and equipment, reassured me throughout the process. If you’re mapping out your ear piercings, referring to an ear piercing chart can be really useful to decide placement and understand healing times. Whether you want a simple constellation or triple piercing, knowing the types and care tips is key to a smooth experience. Finally, budgeting for your piercings upfront saves surprises; at Bugis Tattoo, the rook piercing was $40 and the helix $30. Prices can vary elsewhere, so it’s worth comparing. Overall, my experience has been positive and encouraging me to get more cartilage piercings soon!

Piercing tour + pain ratings!
Just to preface this - my pain tolerance is pretty high but I do not heal piercings well (it takes years for me to heal them) I also don’t recommend getting/healing more than 3-4 piercings at the same time because this can prolong healing!! Where I get my earrings from: Some of my fav p
