intrusive thoughts won and i went to get more ear piercings🤩
Got my rook and 2nd helix done in Mar'25 and they're still healing! Cartilage piercings take about 6mths -1yr to heal! Check this post to see the pain ratings and thoughts on the rook & 2nd helix!
This time round, Jun'25, i went back to /Bugis Tattoo for the 3rd time!!! and decided on a conch and 3rd lobe and am really happy with how it looks!
Pain Rating:
3rd lobe: 2/10
Conch: didn't feel it/10 HAHA
the day after the piercing i felt no pain and forgot that they're there!
I was initially nervous to get the conch done bc many said it was the most painful piercing but i couldn't even feel the pain and my lobe was definitely more painful haha but ofc the pain level wouldn't be the same for everyone!
However, I've always trusted Uncle Robin & Alan to do my piercings as so far all of my piercings done with them at Bugis Tattoo had healed really well and their price is right too!
ALSO I was afraid that i might not be able to wear my earbuds for a good few months to a year during the healing period of my conch but as my conch piercing is a little higher up, my earbuds (samsung buds 2 pro) are still able to fit in PERFECTLY without touching the conch!! (ofc everyone's ear anatomy is different but maybe you can request for a conch placed higher similarly to mine if your ear is small)
Thanks for following me on my ear piercing journey and I'll see you in the next part, hopefully soon!🫡
... Read moreHaving gone through rook, helix, conch, and lobe piercings myself, I wanted to share some insights that helped me with healing and comfort, especially for first-timers. Each piercing location varies in pain and healing time; cartilage piercings like rook, helix, and conch typically take 6 months to a year to heal properly. It's important to keep the area clean and avoid touching or changing jewelry prematurely.
One concern many have is deciding between helix, conch, or rook piercings. From my experience, the conch can be less painful than expected, especially depending on where it is placed. I opted for a slightly higher conch piercing, which allowed me to wear earbuds comfortably. If you plan to use earbuds regularly, consider discussing placement with your piercer to avoid interference.
Healing stages for rook piercings can be tricky due to its location and thickness of cartilage; patience is key. I recommend sticking to a trusted piercer who understands ear anatomy well, as I have with my piercers Uncle Robin and Alan at Bugis Tattoo. They ensured that my piercings healed cleanly and comfortably.
If you’re worried about pain or healing complications, ask your piercer detailed questions. Everyone’s anatomy is different, so what works or hurts for one person might not be the same for you. Remember to follow aftercare instructions closely to avoid infections or prolonged healing.
Index piercings and using multiple piercings strategically can create a balanced look without overcrowding. Also, if you have small ears, this can influence your piercing choices and comfort with accessories like earbuds.
Above all, enjoy the journey! Piercings are personal and expressive, so make choices that feel right for your style and lifestyle.
