We’re All Mad Here💜
Makeup of the day: I’m taking inspiration from the original king of whimsy-maxxing - the Cheshire Cat! It’s one of the looks included in the April Round-Up on We Aim To Slay💜
One of my favorite aspects of this look is its versatility, even though I’m using purples to create this look it’s very easy to re-do in any color palette because it only takes four eyeshadows: a neutral base shade to blend into, and three colors of your choosing!
I recently tried recreating this Cheshire Cat-core makeup look, and it was surprisingly simple yet striking. Using a neutral base eyeshadow along with three accent shades really made the colors pop, especially the violets from the Juvia's Place The Violets palette. I found that pairing these with a soft contour using Fenty Beauty Match Stix in Truffle and a light foundation like NARS Light Reflecting Foundation in Syracuse really helped balance the bold eye makeup. One tip I’d add is to blend well when applying the neutral base—this creates a seamless canvas for the other vibrant shades. Though this look originally features purples, I experimented with warmer tones from the Juvia’s Place The Zulu palette and loved how versatile the technique is. Whether you prefer bold or subtle looks, the four-shadow approach makes it easy to customize. For finishing touches, using a liquid blush such as ColourPop Weightless Liquid Blush in Wildest Dreams adds a natural flush, while a subtle highlight like Benefit Cookie Highlighter on the cheekbones provides a beautiful glow. To top it off, I used the House of Lashes Daily Collection in The Sweetie to create fluttery, yet wearable lashes. This tutorial is perfect for anyone wanting to add a touch of whimsy to their routine without getting overwhelmed by complex steps or products. It’s also great for those participating in makeup challenges, like #lemon8challenge, as it combines creativity with simplicity. Give it a try and make the look your own by experimenting with different palettes and finishes!
