... Read moreHi everyone, I wanted to share a bit more about what life has been like recently with my precious Madame Weeps. As you know, she’s been facing some really tough seizure challenges, and it’s been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. There’s nothing harder than seeing your beloved pet, especially a tiny white chihuahua like her, go through such scary moments.
When Weeps first started having these cluster seizures, I was terrified. One moment she’d be her usual playful self, and the next, she’d be disoriented, trembling, and sometimes even lose consciousness. It's a truly heartbreaking sight. I quickly learned to recognize the signs – sometimes she’d seem a little off before an episode, a bit restless or clingy. During a seizure, my first instinct is always to keep her safe. I clear any objects around her so she doesn't accidentally hurt herself, and I try to stay calm and talk to her softly, even though I know she can't really hear me. I make sure to time the seizure too, as that’s crucial information for the vet. It feels like an eternity every time, even if it's only for a minute or two.
After an episode, she’s often exhausted and confused, what vets call the post-ictal phase. She might pace, bump into things, or just need a lot of comfort. It’s a constant vigil, ensuring she recovers peacefully. Managing her condition has become a significant part of our lives. There are regular vet visits, medication schedules that need to be followed precisely, and constant monitoring for any changes in her behavior or seizure frequency. It can be overwhelming, but her sweet face and loving nature remind me why every effort is worth it.
The financial strain of critical care for a pet with seizures is something I never anticipated. The estimate for just 24 hours of specialized care was around $3,500, a sum that can be incredibly challenging for any pet owner. That's why I started the GoFundMe. It’s hard to ask for help, but when it’s for my little girl’s life, I’ll do anything. I’ve heard so many stories from other pet parents facing similar situations, and pet insurance doesn't always cover pre-existing conditions, which adds another layer of stress.
What I've realized through this journey is the incredible power of community. Even if you can't donate, just sharing Weeps’ story, talking about pet seizure challenges, or offering words of encouragement has been a huge source of strength for me. Knowing that others care and are rooting for her makes a world of difference. It reminds me that we’re not alone in this fight. Every share helps her story reach more people who might be able to offer support, or at least learn more about what pets like my Madame Weeps go through.
Weeps is tiny, but she has the biggest heart and an incredible will to live. We’re taking it one day at a time, celebrating every small victory, and praying for her continued recovery. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us give this amazing little white chihuahua the best chance possible.
