Injection site reactions can be a side effect of GLP1s
Injection site reactions are a frequently reported side effect of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists, which are medications commonly prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes and obesity. These reactions can include redness, swelling, itching, or pain at the injection site, typically occurring shortly after medication administration. The cause of injection site reactions is usually a local immune response to the injection or the medication's components. Reactions range from mild irritation to more significant inflammation but are generally temporary and subside without intervention. In rare cases, repeated injections at the same site may lead to lipodystrophy, characterized by changes in fat tissue under the skin. To mitigate injection site reactions, it is recommended to rotate injection sites systematically to avoid excessive trauma to any single area. Proper injection technique, including using a clean needle and following storage guidelines for the medication, also helps reduce adverse reactions. Healthcare providers should be consulted if injection site reactions are severe, persistent, or accompanied by other symptoms such as fever or signs of infection. Understanding these side effects enhances patient comfort and adherence to GLP-1 therapy, which plays a vital role in managing chronic metabolic conditions effectively.

I have been on Monjuaro 15mg for probably a year. I started on the meds at 444 pounds in August 2024. I lost 100 pounds. I thought it was a magic shot! Abruptly, it stopped working for weight loss and food joint suppression but my A1c is still very good at 5.7. I’m super frustrated because I’m gaining the weight back pretty rapidly. Truly not sure what to do with not finding any doctors who are really helpful and no enough of how to help me. Would love to do a consultation with you if that was ever a possibility?? I have good insurance! HELP!! 😩
