The baddies! ( Oc friend group here )

Creating original characters (OCs) is one of my favorite things to do, especially when I get to explore different aesthetics. Recently, I've been really into designing what I call 'OC baddies' – strong, confident, and stylish female characters who just exude cool! It’s such a fun challenge to give them a unique look and personality. So, what really makes an OC a 'baddie'? For me, it's all about their presence. They don't necessarily have to be villains; in fact, my latest group, which includes Mrs. Herngson, Captain Immotral, and Matilda Lakshmi, are more about their undeniable confidence and distinct style. When I started sketching them, I focused on giving each of these female original characters a bold silhouette and outfits that speak volumes about who they are. From Captain Immotral's commanding look to Matilda Lakshmi's chic vibe and Mrs. Herngson's sophisticated edge, their 'various outfits' were key to bringing out their 'baddie' persona. If you're looking to design your own 'oc baddies,' here are a few tips I've picked up: Define Their Vibe: Think about the specific kind of 'baddie' they are. Are they rebellious, mysterious, powerful, or just incredibly stylish? This will influence everything from their facial expressions in a pencil sketch to their color palette. Iconic Style & Outfit: This is crucial! Give them distinctive clothing that makes them stand out. Think unique accessories, bold fashion choices, and details that hint at their history or profession. Remember how I mentioned their 'various outfits'? Each piece should tell a story. Maybe Captain Immotral has some unique gear, or Matilda Lakshmi rocks a signature piece of jewelry. Strong Personalities: A 'baddie' isn't just about looks. They need depth. Are they sassy, intelligent, cunning, or fiercely loyal? Give them quirks and flaws that make them relatable yet formidable. For my group, I imagined Mrs. Herngson as the wise leader, Captain Immotral as the daring adventurer, and Matilda Lakshmi as the sharp strategist. Memorable Names: Like the ones I chose for my characters—Mrs. Herngson, Captain Immotral, and Matilda Lakshmi—a good name can instantly convey a sense of character and power. It helps to solidify their identity. Dynamic Poses: Even in a simple pencil sketch, a 'baddie' should command attention. Think about how they stand, their posture, and their gestures. This adds so much to their perceived confidence and attitude. Putting together a 'baddie friend group,' like mine, is even more fun. You can create complementary personalities and styles that bounce off each other, making the whole squad even more compelling. It's about designing a team where each member shines individually but also enhances the overall group dynamic. I find this aesthetic so empowering, and it’s no wonder it’s popular across various creative communities. It's truly inspiring to see and create characters who are unapologetically themselves!
