Dessert that were extra memorable
I’ve been in such a dessert mood lately and NYC really keeps feeding the obsession. Like I’m still thinking about this black sesame cream puff from Sweet Cake in Flushing because it was huge, full of cream, and then they poured warm boba on top right when they served it.
I got the ube brioche ice cream sandwich from Kalye the next day it’s so good. It’s just this giant scoop of ube ice cream in soft sweet brioche.
I also tried the croffle at Gong Gan in Flushing with sweet cream and truffle and vanilla ice cream and parmesan, but weirdly it really did? It was sweet and salty and kind of random but so fun, and the croffle itself was sooo good.
For Cloudy Donut Co. in Brooklyn Heights because I can never say no to a pretty donut, and I got the strawberry champagne one and it was actually as good as it looked.
Anyway I feel like NYC desserts are just never boring.
NYC is truly a dessert lover's paradise, and my recent treats confirm why the city is famous for its creative sweets. I still vividly remember the black sesame boba cream puff from Sweet Cake in Flushing — the moment they poured warm boba on the generous cream filling was a delightful surprise. This combination of creamy, nutty, and chewy textures really elevated a classic dessert. The ube brioche ice cream sandwich from Kalye is another must-try. The soft, slightly sweet brioche perfectly complements the earthy purple yam ice cream scoop, balancing sweetness with richness. It’s a unique Filipino-inspired treat that stands out in NYC’s diverse dessert scene. For something fun and unexpected, the croffle at Gong Gan in Flushing blew me away. It brought together sweet cream, truffle, vanilla ice cream, and parmesan cheese — a bold mix of sweet, salty, and umami flavors. The croffle itself, crispy and buttery like a croissant-waffle hybrid, was the perfect base for this adventurous topping combo. The fusion of savory and sweet tastes created a memorable experience unlike any typical dessert. Finally, I never pass up a chance to try vegan donuts, especially when they’re as visually stunning as the ones from Cloudy Donut Co. in Brooklyn Heights. The strawberry champagne donut was not only elegant to look at, but also rich and fruity without being overly sweet — a refreshing twist on traditional donuts. Overall, NYC desserts continue to impress me with their variety, creativity, and bold flavor pairings. Whether it’s classic cream puffs with a twist or inventive croffles, the city keeps my sweet tooth thoroughly satisfied. For anyone visiting or living in NYC, these spots are well worth stopping by for a truly memorable dessert experience.
