10 bucket list spots in Grand Teton

🗺️ 10 Bucket List-Worthy Spots in Grand Teton National Park (+ Hike Details You’ll Need)

📍Hidden Falls - 1.2 miles round trip (from boat shuttle) or 5.2 miles round trip (from Jenny Lake trailhead). One of the most popular waterfall hikes in Grand Teton National Park, Hidden Falls cascades nearly 100 feet through a shady canyon.

📍Bradley Lake - 5.6 miles round trip. You can tie this in with Taggart Lake. This quieter trail offers panoramic Teton views with fewer crowds than Jenny Lake. Beware of mosquitos - they are bad!

📍Oxbow Bend - One of the most photographed spots in Grand Teton. Watch for moose, bald eagles, and jaw-dropping sunrise reflections of Mount Moran in the Snake River.

📍String Lake - 3.7-mile loop around the lake. Ideal for families or first-timers, this shallow, turquoise lake is perfect for kayaking, swimming, and picnicking. The trail is mostly flat and beginner-friendly.

📍Inspiration Point - 2 miles round trip (from boat) or 5.8 miles round trip (from Jenny Lake trailhead). Moderate with steep switchbacks.

📍Jenny Lake - 7.5 miles round trip (full lake loop). The heart of Grand Teton. Whether you hike the full loop, take the boat shuttle, or simply explore the visitor center, Jenny Lake is the perfect base for exploring the park.

📍Moose Wilson Road -  Drive slowly and you may spot black bears, moose, and beavers. This is one of the BEST places to spot moose.

📍Taggart Lake  -3.8 miles round trip, or you can tie it in with Bradley Lake. One of the best easy hikes in Grand Teton National Park, with unbeatable mountain views, wildflowers in summer, and peaceful forest sections.

📍Mormon Row - Home to the iconic Moulton Barn, this area is rich in history and ridiculously photogenic. Sunrise here is a dream for photographers.

📍Cascade Creek - Cascade Creek offers a peaceful, scenic stretch of alpine water fed by Hidden Falls. It’s a quieter spot to rest or enjoy the sound of rushing water surrounded by lush forest. SO peaceful here.

... Read moreWhen I envision Grand Teton National Park, my mind often races to its vibrant summer scenes, but let me tell you, experiencing it in spring offers a completely different kind of enchantment! If you're planning your trip to Grand Teton National Park in spring, there are unique insights I've gathered that can truly elevate your adventure. The park slowly awakens from its winter slumber, unveiling experiences you won't encounter later in the year. First off, wildlife viewing in spring is simply unparalleled. The animals are emerging, often with their young, and the sparser foliage makes them much easier to spot. Driving along Moose Wilson Road during these months is an absolute must – it's your best bet for seeing moose, and we were even lucky enough to spot a black bear with her cubs foraging! Keep your eyes peeled near water sources like the Snake River; you might catch a glimpse of bald eagles returning. Hiking conditions can be a mixed bag, but that’s part of the spring charm. Early spring means some higher-elevation trails, like those leading to Inspiration Point or further up past *Hidden Falls*, might still be covered in snow or be quite muddy. Always check the park’s official website for current trail conditions. However, easier loops, such as the serene path around String Lake or the popular hike to *Taggart Lake*, often become accessible earlier, offering stunning views with far fewer crowds. I loved the quiet solitude, feeling like I had these magnificent landscapes almost to myself! The sound of Cascade Creek rushing with snowmelt is particularly invigorating. For photographers, spring is a dream. The iconic barns at *Mormon Row*, framed by snow-capped peaks and crisp, soft morning light, create truly breathtaking scenes. And then there's *Oxbow Bend*; the reflections of Mount Moran are often perfectly still and pristine before the summer winds pick up. It’s a moment of pure tranquility that’s hard to beat. A few practical tips for a spring visit: Layering is absolutely crucial. Mornings can be quite chilly, sometimes even below freezing, while afternoons can warm up considerably. Waterproof hiking boots are a lifesaver for navigating potentially muddy or slushy trails. And while the famous Grand Teton mosquitos aren't usually in full force until later, they can start to emerge near standing water like Bradley Lake as things warm up, so a small bottle of bug spray isn't a bad idea. It's also important to remember that some park roads, like the full Teton Park Road, typically open later in spring (usually around May 1st), so this could affect direct access to popular spots like Jenny Lake or parts of the scenic drive. Always check the park’s operating schedule before finalizing your itinerary. Despite these minor considerations, the beauty of Grand Teton in spring—with its awakening wildlife, fewer visitors, and dramatic snowy backdrops—makes for an absolutely unforgettable experience that truly earns its spot on any bucket list.
