NFL Replacing Onside Kicks?

This proposal for a 4th & 20 alternative has actually been brought up and rejected by the competition committee multiple times in the past, like the OCR mentions with "REJECTED" popping up, even specifying "202FOUR TIMES" and "202PAST SIX" proposals. But what’s different now? NFL President Troy Vincent has reportedly said that this rule change might have a "REAL CHANCE" to "HAPPEN" in the near future. This suggests there's a renewed push and perhaps more support from key figures within the league. I think the logic behind it is pretty clear. The NFL wants to give trailing teams a more realistic opportunity to get the ball back and stage a comeback. A successful 4th & 20 conversion would be incredibly dramatic, keeping fans on the edge of their seats, compared to the often anticlimactic onside kick attempts. It could even lead to more "Hail Mary" situations, which are always thrilling! Some might argue it's too big a departure from tradition, but with teams like the Rams reportedly proposing various NFL rule changes to enhance competitiveness and excitement, it's clear the league is always looking to evolve.
