This is what happens when a bookworm becomes a witch. I hand write my BOS. I do it a lot when I need a bit of anxiety relief. What do you do?

Read moreHey fellow magic-seekers! 👋 My original post talked a little about my journey as a bookworm who found her inner witch, and how much I adore hand-writing my Book of Shadows (BOS) for anxiety relief. It's truly a magical outlet for me, especially as the days get longer and the energy of summertime witchcraft starts to bloom! ☀️
This time of year is so vibrant, and it really inspires my practice. One of the most unforgettable sections in my BOS is all about Beltane. You know, that beautiful Sabbat celebrating fertility, fire, and the full arrival of spring, ushering in the warm summer months. My Beltane pages are absolutely bursting with life, much like the season itself! I love detailing everything from its traditional date to the associated zodiac signs that resonate with its energy.
For my Beltane entries, I really lean into creating something special. I spend time researching and then beautifully illustrating significant symbols like the Maypole, fire, and blooming flowers. I even drew a little frog on one page, symbolizing transformation and cleansing – perfect for the vibrant energy of summer! My pages often feature a detailed floral border with vibrant greens and reds, mirroring the abundant nature outside.
When it comes to the practical side of my Beltane magic, I love incorporating specific elements. I list traditional food items like honey cakes, oats, and dairy products that honor the earth's bounty. For colors, I focus on bright greens for growth, reds for passion and vitality, and whites for purity. I also connect with appropriate deities – often those associated with fertility, growth, and the sun. Burning specific incense like frankincense or rose helps set the mood and raise energy for any spellwork I'm doing, whether it's for manifestation, abundance, or protection throughout the summer.
Collecting and listing specific herbs like hawthorn, rose, or primrose, and choosing relevant crystals such as emerald, amber, or rose quartz, are integral parts of making my Beltane rituals feel truly personal and powerful. It’s not just about copying information; it’s about understanding why these elements are significant and how they resonate with my path. This mindful process of creation is incredibly calming and helps ground me when I feel overwhelmed.
Making my witchcraft practice unforgettable during summertime isn't just about grand rituals; it's about these small, intentional acts. It's about feeling the sun on my skin, smelling the blooming flowers, and translating that sensory experience into my BOS. It’s a way to document my connection to the earth's cycles and my own spiritual growth. Every handwritten word, every sketch, every carefully chosen symbol becomes a part of my unique journey.
So, if you're looking for a way to embrace the magic of summer, why not try creating your own personal record? Whether it's a dedicated Book of Shadows or just a journal, finding your own rhythm and personalizing your practice can be an incredible source of calm and joy. What parts of summertime witchcraft make your heart sing? I'd love to hear about your unique ways of making magic unforgettable!
