My Mane and Tail Tips!

Since I’ve bought my colt, I’ve always taken pride in his mane and tail. How did i go about getting it to where it is now? I use Mane and Tail (Shampoo and Conditioner) and I’ve never trusted any other brands with my horses mane and tail health.

Bathing tips ⬇️

- When washing the mane, shampoo deep and make sure you get down to their poll. Lightly condition the poll to avoid dryness, along with the rest of their lovely mane!

- With the tail, do the same and make sure you get their dock well, to avoid rubbing also!

- Wash them regularly!!!

- I use Mane and Tail’s Shine On product to keep it nice and white in the summer!!!

- Regularly trim the ends. It may seem silly, but even with horses, nutrients will be sent to the dead ends to repair them. So, instead redirect that to the base to grow more instead of trying to repair the ends!

- Braids. Braids. BRAIDS!!! When starting a braid, make sure it’s loose at the top, so it’s not pulling and becoming irritating to the skin. Think about your own in a very tight ponytail. After making sure the top is loose, tighten up the rest so they don’t come out at ease. Some people use tape, some use rubber bands. I use vet wrap (weird I know, LOL) but it works for me!

- I cannot express how important it is to wrap your horses tail. It can get caught so easy so it’s nice to have protection. ALWAYS make sure it is tied BELOW the bone. Some use mane bags/wraps, I personally haven’t and found braids to work nicely! It’s always fine to try something new though!

I hope this helps with your horses mane journey! Love from me and Cupid!!! 💕💕💕

... Read moreMaintaining a healthy mane and tail for your horse is essential for both aesthetics and overall well-being. Use high-quality products like Mane and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner to deeply clean and nourish your horse's coat. Regular bathing is crucial—aim to wash your horse's mane and tail to remove dirt, sweat, and other debris that can cause irritation. When shampooing, ensure you get into the roots, particularly at the poll for the mane, and focus on the dock area for the tail to prevent rubbing. Conditioning not only softens the hair but also helps prevent dryness, making it manageable. Additionally, trimming the ends of the mane and tail every so often can redirect nutrients to promote growth at the base. Braiding is a beneficial technique for managing your horse's tail. While braiding, ensure the top of the braid is loose to avoid discomfort. Fastening with vet wrap and other soft materials can help it stay secure without causing irritation. It's also imperative to wrap the tail, especially during transport or turnout, to prevent damage from getting caught. Lastly, consider the environmental factors affecting your horse’s mane and tail. During dry, hot months, sunblock products can prevent unwanted fading. For the summer shine, products like Mane and Tail’s Shine On can keep their coats looking fresh amid the sun's glare. These tips will surely help in curating a stunning mane and tail, making your horse the envy of the barn!
