Children who were left out became these type of adults

6/4 Edited to

... Read moreGrowing up feeling excluded can deeply affect how we approach relationships as adults. Many people who experienced childhood exclusion find themselves constantly feeling like the second choice or backup option in their social circles. This isn’t just a feeling; it stems from years of being overlooked and not fully accepted, which slowly shapes their expectations that they will never truly be chosen. Another common impact is an underlying belief that people will eventually leave. This fear creates a barrier to fully trusting others and holding back emotionally. It might seem safer to keep distance rather than risk the pain of abandonment again. However, this can make genuine connection difficult and leave adults feeling isolated despite their efforts. It can also cause awkwardness when someone shows genuine care or affection since it’s unfamiliar territory for those who grew up feeling unwanted. They might find themselves more comfortable listening and supporting others rather than sharing their own feelings, as hiding emotions was a survival strategy in childhood. Over time, many stop chasing friendships or new relationships altogether because they are tired of the constant rejection or feeling like they need to beg for a place in others’ lives. This resignation can deepen feelings of loneliness but can also be a protective shield against further hurt. Recognizing these adult behaviors as stemming from childhood experiences of exclusion is the first step toward healing. Tools such as therapy or expressive platforms like support apps can help identify and process these feelings. Remember, if you’ve felt like the outsider growing up, you are not alone. Your feelings matter, and with understanding and care, it’s possible to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships as an adult.
