Melanin Haircare 🪮

Melanin is natural hair product brand that I have been using for several years. These two products I use the most!

•Twist-Elongating Style Cream 9/10 - Affordable for the large amount of product. Thick and creamy- keeps my hair moisturized for several days. The only downside is that the smell is kind of strong and it doesn’t smell bad by any means, but it just isn’t a favorite of mine.

•Multi-Use Softening Leave in Conditioner 7/10 - A lightweight cream that’s pretty moisturizing. Seeing as it is just a leave in, it’s best to follow it up with another product (styler and oil) to get definition and longer lasting moisture. I personally prefer a thicker cream for my hair type but I still like it.

... Read moreAs someone who's been navigating the natural hair journey for a while, finding products that truly work can feel like a treasure hunt. That's why I wanted to share my in-depth thoughts on Melanin Haircare, a brand I've consistently returned to over the years. My goal here is to give you a comprehensive, honest review of two of their standout products that have become staples in my routine: the Twist-Elongating Style Cream and the Multi-Use Softening Leave-in Conditioner. Let’s start with the Melanin Haircare Twist-Elongating Style Cream. What immediately struck me about this product is its incredible value for the amount you get. It truly is a generous jar! Upon opening, you're greeted with a texture that is wonderfully "thick and buttery," as the OCR also noted. This isn't just marketing—it translates directly into its performance. This cream is incredibly rich and dense, which is fantastic for locking in moisture. I found that it keeps my hair feeling hydrated and soft for several days, which is a huge win for any naturalista. It provides excellent hold and definition for twists, braids, and other protective styles, living up to its "elongating" promise without leaving hair feeling stiff or crunchy. My only minor critique, as I mentioned before, is the scent. It's not unpleasant by any means, but it does have a stronger, somewhat herbal fragrance that isn't my personal favorite. However, it dissipates nicely once the hair dries, so it's a small trade-off for such powerful moisturizing benefits. If you're looking for a product that deeply nourishes and helps stretch your styles, this Melanin haircare twist elongating cream is definitely one to consider. Next up is the Melanin Haircare Multi-Use Softening Leave-in Conditioner. This product is a different beast altogether, designed to serve a distinct purpose in your routine. It lives up to its "lightweight" description from the OCR. Unlike the thick styling cream, this leave-in is much lighter, making it perfect for initial hydration without weighing down the hair. I particularly love using it as a base layer after washing, as it instantly softens and detangles my strands, making subsequent styling much easier. While it’s quite moisturizing on its own, I've found that for my hair type, it truly shines when followed up with another product. Think of it as the perfect primer. To get lasting definition and to seal in that moisture for longer, I always recommend pairing it with a good styler and an oil. For example, a few drops of a natural oil blend (like the Melanin haircare multi-use pure oil blend, if you have it) layered on top can make a significant difference in prolonging its effects and adding shine. This Melanin leave in conditioner provides that essential first step of hydration, preparing your hair for whatever comes next. Overall, my experience with Melanin Haircare products has been overwhelmingly positive. The brand really focuses on high-quality ingredients that cater to natural hair, and it shows in the results. For those wondering about Melanin hair care reviews in general, I believe these two products are excellent examples of the brand's commitment to moisture and manageability. While I haven't tried their entire line, these staples give a strong indication of the brand's quality. For a complete natural hair regimen, don't forget the importance of a good deep conditioner; while not reviewed here, a product like the Melanin haircare plumping deep conditioner would fit perfectly into a routine to ensure optimal hair health. Both the Melanin haircare twist elongating style cream and the Melanin multi use softening leave in conditioner offer distinct benefits, making them valuable additions to any natural hair care arsenal, especially for those prioritizing moisture and style longevity. They offer excellent value and deliver on their promises, making them a worthwhile investment for your curls.
