I did my own braids again this summer!
I love having long hair so much! I feel like I was born to have at least waist length hair but instead my hair is a bit past my collarbone. I am trying very hard to grow my hair out but until then, this is a pretty great alternative.
I love flipping my hair and swinging it around and acting crazy with it. It took like six hours and that was not fun🙃, but it was worth it! I did end up with some carpal tunnel… but at least I could look cute through the pain

Like many of you, I absolutely adore braids, especially in the summer! This year, I decided to tackle the challenge of doing my own braids again, and while it was definitely a project, the results were so worth it. There’s something so empowering about transforming your look and getting that gorgeous long hair vibe, even if your natural hair isn't quite there yet. My own journey with 'I did my own braids again this summer!' taught me a lot about patience and what styles really make a statement. When I first thought about what kind of style I wanted, classic box braids immediately came to mind. They're such a versatile and protective style, and you can really see why they're a go-to for so many. You can rock them long, medium, or even short, and they look stunning in box braid updo hairstyles for special occasions or just to keep them off your neck. I've seen some incredible medium box braids hairstyles pictures that give so much inspiration! Then there are knotless braids, which have become super popular, and for good reason! They feel lighter on the scalp and often look more natural at the roots. I've been eyeing some knotless long box braids hairstyles and even knotless boho braids hairstyles for black girls, thinking about my next style. They’re fantastic for all ages too; I’ve seen beautiful knotless braids for teens that look so chic. Of course, there are so many other amazing african braids hairstyles out there. I love seeing the creativity with red stitch braids for a pop of color, or the intricate designs of feed in scalp braids. If you're looking for something unique, shaved sides with braids offer a really edgy look, while individual braids give a classic, elegant feel. For the younger ones, there are adorable braid hairstyles for 9 year olds black girl and hairstyles for 12 year olds girl black braids that are both cute and practical. And let's not forget boho short braids for a free-spirited vibe, or even just exploring different 10 braids hairstyles to find your perfect match. The options seem endless, especially with new trends like knotless braids hairstyles 2024 constantly emerging! Achieving these styles, especially when you're doing them yourself like 'I did my own braids again this summer!', definitely takes time and dedication. My last session took about six hours, and yes, my hands were a bit tired (hello, carpal tunnel! 😅), but the feeling of accomplishment and having fabulous hair made it all worth it. If you're concerned about your edges, there are great tips on thin edges how to hide edges with braids to ensure your hair stays healthy. Remember to moisturize your scalp and hair, and sleep with a satin scarf or bonnet to keep your braids looking fresh. Whether you visit a braid bar city photos for inspiration or brave the DIY path, getting braids is an investment in feeling good about your hair. It truly is a great alternative when you're growing out your natural hair, giving you that desired length and volume without the wait. So, if you're debating getting braids this summer, I say go for it! Explore the different styles, find what suits you, and enjoy the confidence that comes with a beautiful, protective hairstyle. It’s more than just hair; it’s an expression of style and a fantastic way to embrace your look. Happy braiding!
