Old Testament vs New Testament! God loves you tho.

2025/1/3 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! I've been diving deep into understanding the Bible, and one of the biggest questions I had was about the Old Testament vs. New Testament. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, right? I know I used to feel a bit "traumatized" by some of the "Bible stuff" in the Old Testament, wondering how it all fit together with the message of God's love we hear so much about today. What really clicked for me is realizing they're not two separate books, but two parts of one unfolding story of God's relationship with humanity. The biggest difference between the Old and New Testament really boils down to the 'covenants' – promises God made. The Old Testament, in a "perfect summarization," sets the stage. It's about God establishing His laws (like the Ten Commandments) and His covenant with Israel. It reveals our need for a savior because, honestly, trying to follow all those laws perfectly? Impossible! It's filled with history, prophecy, poetry, and wisdom, showing us God's character and humanity's consistent struggle with sin. It's the foundation, preparing the world for something new. Then comes the New Testament, which is where everything changes! It's all about Jesus Christ. He's the fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies. The New Testament introduces the new covenant, where salvation isn't earned through keeping the law, but is a free gift received through faith in Jesus. This is where we truly grasp that "God loves you tho," unconditionally and sacrificially. It's a message of grace and redemption. Speaking of the New Testament, many people ask about its structure. The first four books of Christian scriptures are the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – which tell us about Jesus' life, teachings, miracles, death, and resurrection. Then, we have the book of Acts, detailing the early church. After that, a huge chunk is made up of letters, known as the Pauline Epistles in order (like Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, etc.), written by the Apostle Paul to various churches, providing guidance on doctrine and how to live a Christian life. These letters are incredibly practical for everyday faith! The New Testament was largely written during the 1st century AD, by apostles and their close associates, sharing eyewitness accounts and divine revelation of Jesus' ministry. So, while the Old Testament might show us the consequences of sin and the need for justice, the New Testament beautifully illustrates God's mercy and amazing grace through Jesus. It's truly amazing to see how both testaments, though different in focus, together paint a complete picture of God's plan for us and His enduring, unconditional love. Understanding this has brought so much clarity and peace to my faith journey. I hope this helps you too! #christianlemon8 #bible #verse #oldtestamentvsnewtestament
