i studied architecture, but knew pretty early on that i didn’t want to go down the traditional path.

somewhere along the way, i fell in love with jewelry design. i’ve always loved designing objects at the human scale - things that can be held, touched, and worn - and jewelry has become a new way for me to explore the same things i loved about architecture.

geometry, material, proportion, the way pieces come together, how light interacts with a surface - just at a much smaller scale.

here to document the journey and see where it takes me. thank you sm for following along :)

... Read moreTransitioning from architecture to jewelry design offers a unique perspective on creating objects that resonate on a personal level. Having studied architecture, I quickly realized that working on grand structures wasn’t my path, but the fundamental principles I learned—geometry, balance, proportion—became invaluable in my jewelry creations. Jewelry design allows for an intimate interaction with form and material, where every detail matters due to the smaller scale. I find joy in experimenting with how light plays across different surfaces, textures, and materials, much like how sunlight hits a building facade but condensed into something wearable and personal. One of the most exciting challenges is maintaining architectural integrity while adapting designs for comfort and wearability. Proportions must be perfect not only visually but physically, ensuring the piece feels harmonious with the wearer’s body. Documenting this journey has also helped me connect with others who appreciate the crossover between large-scale design and personal adornment. It’s rewarding to see how architectural concepts can be translated into elegant, tactile pieces. For those considering a similar path, embracing both disciplines enriches your design vocabulary and opens up new creative possibilities. Ultimately, this fusion highlights how the principles of architecture—geometry, materiality, and light—can inspire beautiful and meaningful jewelry that tells a story at a human scale.
