... Read moreOkay, so you saw my little 'oops' moment with my new pink variegated Alocasia Bambino, but let's be real, that minor casualty was totally worth it for this plant! I've been dreaming of adding a pink variegated Alocasia Bambino to my collection for ages, and finally, my dream came true. The way the delicate pink splashes contrast with the deep green, and those signature Alocasia leaves shaped like tiny elephant ears? Pure perfection! It's truly a showstopper and immediately became the crown jewel of my plant shelf. For anyone else out there eyeing this stunner or who just brought one home, let me share a few things I've learned about keeping Alocasias, especially these rare variegated beauties, happy and thriving. They can be a bit finicky, but with the right care, they reward you with incredible foliage. First off, light is key. My pink variegated Bambino thrives in bright, indirect light. I place mine near an east-facing window where it gets plenty of morning sun, or a little further back from a south-facing one. Direct, harsh sunlight can scorch those delicate variegated leaves, so definitely avoid that! Too little light, and you might notice the variegation isn't as vibrant, or new leaves might be smaller. Next up, watering. This is where many Alocasia parents struggle. They love consistent moisture but absolutely despise soggy feet. I usually let the top inch or two of the soil dry out before watering thoroughly. I always check the soil with my finger – if it feels dry, it's watering time! During winter, when growth slows down, I tend to water less frequently to prevent root rot. And because it's an Alocasia, humidity is non-negotiable for a happy pink variegated Bambino. These plants are native to tropical rainforests, so they crave high humidity. My plant room usually hovers around 60-70% humidity thanks to a humidifier, and my Alocasias absolutely love it. If your home is dry, consider a pebble tray or grouping it with other plants to create a microclimate. You'll notice crisper leaves and better growth when humidity is high. For soil, I use a chunky, well-draining mix. Something that retains some moisture but allows for excellent aeration. My go-to recipe is usually a mix of potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, and a bit of coco coir. This provides good drainage while still giving the roots something to hold onto and keeping them from sitting in water. Temperature is also important. These plants prefer consistent warmth, ideally between 65-80°F (18-27°C). Avoid cold drafts or sudden temperature drops, as this can stress the plant and lead to leaf yellowing or dropping. Finally, a little personal tip: Alocasias can be prone to going dormant, especially if conditions aren't perfect or during colder months. Don't panic if a few leaves yellow and drop! Just reduce watering, keep it warm, and wait for new growth to emerge. Also, keep an eye out for common pests like spider mites. I regularly inspect the undersides of the leaves and wipe them down with a damp cloth to keep pests at bay. My pink variegated Alocasia Bambino is already pushing out a new leaf, and I'm so excited to see how it unfurls. Despite my clumsy start, this plant has quickly become a favorite. If you're looking for a statement plant that offers a challenge and immense beauty, this one is definitely worth considering. Happy planting, fellow plant enthusiasts!

I have committed a grave sin against the TikTok algorithm gods once again by posting too many videos in a short amount of time. They are so fed up with me. I’m in time out for a day or two again. 😅 #Oops #Fail #NewCreator #Funny #DidIDoThat
