Thrift w/ Me | Things to do in New York City 🏙️

Eightball Thrift Shop

I wanted to say another Bushwick thrift store but this one is actually in Ridgewood . But it’s practically the same place right ? .. RIGHTTT ?

This is a super cute super clean thrift store . Yes that has to be said lol . This store also focuses on actual clothing pieces . So if you’re a scarf girl like me , this may not be the place for you.

But I love a good thrift store and I definitely found some cool pieces here! Y’all know that 1 girl 10 obsessions trend ? That’s me , except all 10 obsessions are thrifting 😂

... Read moreThrifting for clothes has become one of my absolute favorite pastimes, and finding a truly great clothing thrift store is like striking gold! My recent trip to Eightball Thrift Shop, which is nestled right on the border of Ridgewood and Bushwick, was exactly that kind of treasure hunt. It's not just any thrift store; it's a super clean, well-organized spot dedicated primarily to fantastic clothing pieces, making the whole experience so much more enjoyable than rummaging through cluttered racks. When I’m looking for my next fashion find, I always keep an eye out for places that prioritize organization. While this article isn't about *how to organize a thrift store*, from a shopper's perspective, a clean and tidy space like Eightball Thrift Shop makes all the difference. It means less time searching and more time *discovering*. You can actually see the colorful vintage clothing clearly, appreciate the textures, and envision how a piece might fit into your wardrobe. The images from my trip, showing long rows of neatly hung items and even that unique green floor, really reflect how pleasant the shopping environment is. For those of you wondering how to find gems like Eightball, beyond just searching for a specific spot in Brooklyn, NY, here are some of my personal tips for successful clothing thrifting. First, always look for stores that seem to have a curated selection, even if it's not explicitly stated. A focused inventory, like Eightball’s emphasis on clothing, means they’ve likely put thought into what they stock. Second, don't be afraid to explore different neighborhoods. While Eightball is a fantastic find, there are countless other amazing thrift stores out there, whether you're looking for Montrose thrift stores or other local gems. Researching online and checking out local social media groups can often lead you to hidden spots that might not be on the main tourist radar. My thrifting strategy usually involves going in with an open mind. Instead of a specific item, I look for quality fabrics, unique patterns, and pieces that feel special. Always check the condition – look for tears, stains, or missing buttons. Don't skip the fitting room! Even if it's a bit of a hassle, trying things on is crucial to ensure a good fit and to see how the item truly drapes on your body. I've found so many incredible blouses, skirts, and even jackets that I wouldn't have considered based purely on the hanger. Patience is also key; the best finds often come when you least expect them. One of the biggest advantages of a well-maintained clothing thrift store is the sheer comfort of browsing. It’s not overwhelming, and you feel more inclined to take your time and really look through everything. This approach can turn a simple shopping trip into a delightful experience where you uncover truly unique pieces that set your style apart. After a successful thrift, I love imagining how to style my new finds, whether it’s pairing a vintage jacket with modern jeans or incorporating a colorful top into my work attire. A quick wash, maybe a minor alteration, and these pre-loved items get a whole new life in my closet. So next time you're in NYC, definitely add Eightball Thrift Shop to your list – it's a thrifter's paradise!
